Intel NUC7i3BNH - Connect a second screen with hdmi to displayport

Dear Community,

I have Intel NUC7i3BNH with USB-C Displayport and HDMI Port.

My challenge is to connect to Samsung SA 650 which both have only displayport.

So I linked the first screen with USB-C Displayport to Displayport Cable which is working fine.

The second screen should be connected with HDMI to Displayport cable and this is not working.

I have tried two different of this cable, both are not working. HDMI to HDMI is working for example on a TV. Latest HDMI firmware and graphic driver are installed.

Could some give me a hint if there is a compatible cable/adapter available or if any special specifics needs to be considered?

Thanks,

Nic

This is problematic because the signal came from the processor in DisplayPort form and was converted to HDMI by a LSPcon chip. You need an active adapter that will convert back from HDMI to DisplayPort. Be careful when searching for such an adapter; most go the other way. Here is an example of what you need (though I haven't tried this particular one): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0752D33PJ.

Hi Scott,

thanks for the hint! I will try such an active adapter.

Because I have used a cable, I guess it was for the other direction of use.

Thanks

Nic

Yes, absolutely! You can passively go from DisplayPort to HDMI - and that's what that cable supports - but you need active adapter to go from HDMI to DisplayPort. The USB cable off this adapter, BTW, is to provide power to the active conversion ICs.
