Kingston A2000 in NUC10i7FNK does not boot

I just received my brand new NUC10i7FNK and tried to install a Kingston A2000 NVMe 500 GB as bootable drive. Somehow it doesn't recognize the Kingston as bootable drive.

In Advanced settings under Storage it mentions the drive as M.2 SSD; so far so good. I've also checked the Kingston in my HP ProBook, and there it simply boots Windows 10 from the drive.

But when installed in the NUC it won't boot from the Kingston SSD. Anyone who is also using this Kingston SSD? Or can anyone tell me what to change in the bios settings?

Hi @BramN

You are saying that your NUC is not booting from the Kingston A2000 NVMe 500 GB SSD.  This drive wasn't validated by Intel for your NUC, but it doesn't mean that it will not work. It wasn't tested by Intel. I'm assuming that the booting process starts, since you can enter BIOS and you see the BIOS screen. That means that the RAM is OK. You didn't mentioned what O.S. you have installed on this SSD. FYI, this NUC boots in UEFI mode, therefore the Windows should be installed in that mode.

1. I suggest you to reinstall Windows using the following method:
2. Please prepare your installation media (you need 8GB – 32GB USB stick), using Microsoft Media Creation Tool. This will install the latest version.
3. Your bios should be set to default settings. Enter bios (press F2 during boot) and then press F9 (confirm) to set defaults and F10 (confirm) to save settings and exit.
4. With the installation media inserted into rear USB slot, power ON your NUC and repeatedly press F10 to get Boot Menu.
5. In this menu, choose UEFI option of your Installation media.
6. Follow this tutorial to continue with installation.
7. In para. 9 you may enter Product Key from the Microsoft Distribution you bought .
8. Skip on para. 14 and continue in para. 15. Important, do not format drive where you want to install Windows, rather delete all existing partitions from this drive, till you see one unallocated space.
9. Press Next and continue with the installation.

Leon
