I used Intel Driver and Support Assistant to update BIOS and drivers to NUC8i7HVK4 after system rebuild.
Now no LED's working at all, completely dark. (Skull, power and status lights)
Followed suggested steps:
- Made sure the Software LED control is enabled in BIOS:
- checked that LED lights were disabled from the Tray Application, LED Manager for Intel® NUC. Please attach a picture of the settings you have applied to your Intel® NUC.
- Checked that the LED Manager for Intel® NUC Service is installed and running.
If left alone long enough the skull will flash in some sleep mode (proof LEDs still physically connected).
Tried disconnecting everything waiting 30min and rebooting.
No progress, suggestions?
Thanks

Ronny, just re-reading this thread to see IF I might have missed anything
I am still in the ditch like everyone else with NO LED functionality - but now I have a startup issue with BIOS 64 too
Submitted a new ticket yesterday - Xmas Day - so certain not to get any reply for another 48hrs or so
But in re-reading this entire string from the start, Dlmerchant paints a dreadful picture of not only NOT getting a fix (and I didn't insult any one by adding "quick") BUT to have to face the real bad news that our series S/A is so poxed Intel cannot work around this and now we have to dump or trade in for a loss or whatever our current NUCs because the line has been discontinued.
Dreadful possibilities here
I know you are a messenger here... but please, man, not only are we burning patience... but time... and the last shoe to drop will be for all of us with same S/A is to burn money because of a bad BIOS condition

Let's be clear here: No one has said that this issue cannot be fixed in a subsequent BIOS release. What has been said is that there is currently no fix available and that RMAing the unit is not possible at this time (simply because there are no units in inventory). RMAing isn't the right answer anyway; the problem will just happen again. Until a fix is available or Intel announces that no fix is forthcoming, calm down and wait.

Scott, if I read correctly you DONT have the same models we do
so, while I respect your view
understand mine and every one else who are guessing at whether their NUCs are ON or OFF

Oh, I am not trying to downplay the severity of the issue; I am just saying that there is little that you can do about it and screaming is not going to speed up the process.
From all the information folks have provided, the issue seems to be isolated to the units with S/A J71485-503 -- which is good information for their debug process and hopefully will speed up the isolation of a fix. Still, the process takes time...

Hello all,
We are currently checking this internally since many users reported the same behavior.
We tried to replicate this in our labs, but the BIOS update was sucessfully completed and the LED lights are working fine.
We will continue investigating about this and I will post back as soon as I receive any update.
Best regards,
Maria R.

To All,
Could be that only some batch of NUCs is affected? So, I suggest that every body will write the production date of the affected NUC. My NUC didn't suffer from this problem and it was successfully updated. The date of production is 08/2018.

- J71485-501 manufactured 01/18.
- J71485-502 manufactured 05/18.
- K22508-501 manufactured 11/18.

Hi @CPublish3r
Scott's question is addressed to @Dave111 (and I believe that the answer will be -502).

I went through the various conversations regarding this issue. Here are the instance rates based upon S/A Number:
J71485-503 - 13
J71485-502 - 3
J71486-502 - 2
Oddly enough, I also have unit with S/A J71485-502, but my LEDs continue to work fine.
Whether this will help the BIOS engineers spot the issue sooner, I am unsure. Regardless, they need to hear it.
