Live System for NUC8i5?

Hi all,

I have a NUC8i5 and am looking for an operating system that I can boot and use temporarily, e.g. for online banking from a USB stick. Many Linux distributions offer such a possibility.

But as far as I know Linux is not officially supported.

Therefore my question to the community: Has anyone had good experiences with a live system and can recommend it?

Bluetooth and WLAN are not required, HDMI audio would be nice, but is not mandatory.

Thanks!

Seems to be an option. I will take a deeper look on this.

Thank you.

Another possibility is "Windows to Go". You can find the setup in the Control Panel. I have never used it, but it may meet your needs.

Hi @Trial-Member

So, I've created Live Windows 10 1809 USB, using the procedure from PCMAG on my NUC8i7HVKVA, with the following exception:

  • While creating the USB with the WinToUSB, I've selected GPT for UEFI partition scheme, instead of proposed MBR. My NUC8i7HVK, can't boot from legacy boot USB.
  • The Installation mode I've live Legacy.

The process took about 40 minutes and in the first boot I was requested to pass the Windows installation process.

Once I booted into Windows, the Windows were activated automatically. However, when I've booted my other NUC, NUC7i7DNHE, the Windows on the live USB where not activated. Ther are activated only for the NUC8i7HVK, where this USB was created.
