I have an Intel Nuc i7BNH, I had problems with the monitor flickering on and then off since I purchased it. The monitor is a LG24UD58 4k. Initially the monitor made things worse because of a dark color mode feature that was enabled. Things improved when I disabled the feature. I updated all the bios, display drivers, and software updates. Still no improvement. Now, I notice a correlation, when the fan speed kicks into higher gear it causes the monitor to turn off for a second or two and then turn back on. I'm not really using any resources that should cause the fan to kick into its highest gear, mainly streaming, office work no gaming.
1.) When I removed the NUC from the back of the monitor and I move it away and place it on the desk, it was attached directly with the VESA plate, the problem seems to be fixed.
-Couple of things I notice: the fan blows hot air directly past the hdmi port/cable. So, the cable input gets hot. I thought it could be related to the CPU fan increasing speed, the CPU using more resources, and the hot air blowing on the cable insert. I'm not sure if this is important because the cable is still there when I place the nuc on the surface. I'm not seeing this issue, as of now.
-Could the vesa mount, being directly on the back of the monitor and some emi interference from the nuc be causing the monitor to flicker?
2.) Replacing the hdmi was the first step, which didn't fix the issue.

So, it just happened a few minutes ago. I checked the windows event log and found this error message: The event logging service encountered an error (res=1500) while initializing logging resources for channel Microsoft-Windows-WerKernel/Operational.
What does this mean? What should I check?
