Hi!
using NUC 11 Pro (NUC11TNKv7 with i7-1185G7) for a few hours...a very handy piece of electronic. Like every NUC I am using I tried to use the fan profile “custom” in UEFI --> Tab Cooling.
Even with the option “fan off capability” set to off (using custom fan mode), the fan does not spin up anymore. Not in BIOS and not in Windows. CPU reaches 100 degree even sitting in BIOS watching temperatures. Fan keeps turned off. Please see the attachment.
I have to switch back to F9 UEFI defaults to get the fan working again. Tried Power Button BIOS recovery with Version 0042 and 0054. Same result.
Interesting that there is the same topic here (solution was a BIOS Update):
https://community.intel.com/t5/Intel-NUCs/The-fan-keeps-turning-on-even-after-sleep-NUC-11/m-p/1277601
Attention: this user initially had a further problem with permanent spinning fan in standby mode but also encountered the problem with no spinning fan at custom fan profile setting.
Could you please provide a BIOS fix for that? Just port the solution linked above.
Thanks in advance!
Kind regards
sapphire_pro

Hi Chris!
thanks for your quick reply.
This fix will be included in a official BIOS release (to be find in download section)?
Regards!

Understandable.
Hopefully you'll give us another chance in the future.
Take care!

I personally wanted that package fangless. According to fan forums that's just not what i3 through i9 CPUs are about.

For the most part, you are correct, the Core processors like being cooled.
However, there ARE fanless solutions for NUCs out there. Check out this link: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/boards-kits/nuc-ecosystem-solutions.html It shows the cool designs and use cases some of our partners have come up with!

Thanks. I guess it's a waiting game for the guy.
I myself found an interesting problem from the non partner provider{ Akasa's Galactico is a beautiful but flawed fan-less solution for the Skull Canyon NUC. }
Very creepy when the products are short of supply. I just got very surprised when my Pentium Silver N5000 turned up fanless. It's so terribly professional quiet in my room. I even decided to decieve my family and set up the room as an office.

Nice!
I was actually going to name Akasa, along with a couple of others, but I figured the "official list" is probably more complete.
Akasa was kind enough to provide us a Galactico and I built it up and it's sitting in our little NUC museum.
