NUC 8 - will rendomly not wake up from sleep.

Hi.

I have this issue which has been going on for more than 3 years.

I've also got a replacement pc from Intel.

I’ve posted many questions here and in other places.

Intel® NUC Kit NUC8i3BEH

the thing is my pc will randomly not wake up from sleep.

I’ve implemented many different solutions to no avail.

The malfunction occurs also in linux operating systems.

The bios in my pc is updated to its newest version ( version 89 ).

all of the drivers are also up to date.

I tried many different bios settings including this tutorial. but to no avail.

The issue persists as it has from day one.

So now the bios settings are with 2 V marked on top of my "bios defaults".

Then I checked the USB rubrics.

The other settings were according to the recommendations of the tutorial.

Nothing seems to work.

The malfunction always returns after about 20 times my pc has resumed from sleep mode.

I have no warranty on my pc, and in any case, I believe the malfunction will always return in this model if not more so.

I am very willing to provide any information needed.

  2. Advanced > Power > Secondary Power Settings (Right Section) > Deep S4/S5 > Select Disabled.
Disable to allow to wake up from other methods besides the power button.
  3. Advanced > Power > Secondary Power Settings (Right Section) > USB S4/S5 Power > Enabled.

The bios default settings are no good.

The tutorial in the aforementioned link is no good also.

I've also re installed the bios as a bios update with F7 key. the install went ok but the issue remains.

There must be some other setting which should resolve the issue but i don't know what it is.

this far i've tried also

Advanced Devices > Onboard Devices > Auto Turn On TV > "From S3/S4/S5 Boot"

Advanced > Power > Secondary Power Settings (Right Section) > Deep S4/S5 > -Disabled.

Advanced > Power > Secondary Power Settings (Right Section) > USB S4/S5 Power > Enabled.

Advanced > Power > Secondary Power Settings (Right Section) > Wake on USB from S5 > Enabled.

I did some screen snips but the bios returned an error when i tried to save it.

So I took a pic with my phone.

During the past 3 years , it was almost everyday my pc failed to wake up from sleep.

No matter what i did the issue persisted.

also in linux as well as windows.

I tried upgrading the bios versions.

Tried replacing my ram card.

Booted from USB with linux.

tried different settings in the bios.

I also tried hibernation instead of sleep ( S3 ).

tried also the recovery jumper.

I also re-installed the bios in F7 option with was successfully installed.

and this pc is my replacement pc..... Not the original one. but both had the same issue.

I don't know anything.

Maybe it's my fault and I dont Know it.

But I want to find out.

I know it's a heavy threat but I consider buying some other mini pc.

Respectfully- I think it would be more fair if someone in intel would admit there's a serial problem with intel NUC regarding this issue mentioned above.

It's not fair to just keep on giving me futile advices nor keep silent.

Someone should admit this.

Thanx.

This is my new SSU report with graphics version 30.0.101.1660.

I need some 24-36 hours to check it.

But I ask of you to believe me if I say to you "the issue persists".

thanx again...

Hello R_Kede,

Thanks for your reply. I will be waiting for your confirmation if version 1660 worked. If this version did not work, please try version 26.20.100.8141 and let me know if this old version helped.

Thanks for your comprehension.

I've installed version 26.20.100.8141.

The issue persists with this driver also.

It's my new ssu report.

I think the issue afore mentioned , resides in a much deeper lever than drivers.

I have been using this pc for 3 years to know that.

I suspect Intel's staff also know it, but will never admit this.

I don't deserve the truth....

In other forums they call it "the sleep of death".

https://www.reddit.com/r/intelnuc/comments/opewnc/intel_nuc_nuc8i7beh_dead_when_going_to_sleep/

I've already said- this is my replacement pc and not the original one.

The issue has occurred also in linux ( manjaro ).

But no matter what, no one in intel will acknowledge it.

There's something wrong with the bios or hardware, and it's serial.

If i could only get some acknowledgment... but no.

Each day i have to deal with it from a new perspective.

Nobody cares if i say for example- the issue persists also in linux. Nobody cares....

Any help would be appreciated.

I'll give any extra info i'll be asked to provide.

As long as Intel's staff does not acknowledge there's some serial malfunction.... It's a problem....

I have to check the STC information for that kind of a processor. I don't remember when they manufactured it. It's very often a bug in the BIOS if the system has a CEC function for the HDMI input. Windows usually has a label for power input when the manufacturer makes the package. It's probably the USB port trying to get the USB-D drivers while the system is away. I don't have any idea where to find it if at all possible in Windows 10 systems because I don't use anything later than 8.1. It's in the Control panel, System and Security, Action Center. Or, just simply if you can find the Action Center. It's the Maintenance Tab. There's a list of unresolved problem reports. It can be a good way to check if there are the latest compatibility issues. And it's possible to delete old or already fixed issues that are still there. According to Microsoft Analytics it can effect communication. If the programs are enrolled into analytics. There's just a lot of programs that use that service. And too many to list to bring up the faulty product.

You are dealing with agents who are not authorized to say anything about even the possibility of there being a serial issue. This is simply not the path that these kinds of announcements are allowed to take and they likely won't talk about them even after the fact. You are wasting your time asking. They are similarly not authorized to speculate regarding schedules or features. You are wasting your time asking when a driver update will appear and/or what features or bug fixes will be included in a driver update; they simply are not going to speculate.

Sorry, but this is reality. Blame it on the slimeball lawyers (and patent trolls) out there who sue companies at the drop of a hat over the most ridiculous things; these kinds of rules get put in place because of them.

All opinions are my own,
