NUC Gen 7 i5 does not recognize external HDD

Hello,

I'm trying to set my NUC up as an NVR for a single camera surveillance system that will record 24/7 to a 4TB powered external HDD (3.5"). Currently, the NUC doesn't recognize that it exists. It is attached via USB 3.0. I've tried it in a front and a back port, no difference. I'm running Win 10 Pro 64 bit. I also have 2 SSDs installed, I don't know if that's a problem or not. I'm fairly good with troubleshooting issues, but I haven't the time currently to try a million different ways to make it work. Any advice would be appreciated. It may be that it just can't work, which will be sad, but I'm okay if that is the case.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Hello Dogonets

Thank you for joining the community.

Could you let us know the model of the NUC, model of the HDD, model of the connector use form the HDD to the NUC?

Does the HDD need any driver installation?

Does the HDD works on another system?

Regards,

Your NUC, since has size bigger than 2.2GB, should have GPT type partition (rather then MBR). After partitioning it for GPT, it should be formatted.
