NUC Grass Canyon NUC5PGYH Windows 10 License key ?

Hi

We're planning on buying 100 of these NUC's, but upgrading it with extra RAM & SSD.

Of course we want to use the SSD for booting, and not the eMMC memory.

I've learned that the Win10 product key is not on the NUC ?

How can we install Win10 on the SSD if we don't have the product key ?

BR,

Mark

Hi Speeskeek,

The NUC kit 5PGYH comes with Windows® 10 Home 64bit pre-installed in the eMMC, it already contains the product Key.

Now, if you want to translate the operating system to the 2.5" SSD; I recommend you to use Microsoft Windows® suggestion.

System Preparation (Sysprep) tool

What you should do is set up the Windows 10 on the eMMC and make sure Windows gets activated. Once that is done, you can then install Windows 10 Home on any internal drive you connect to the NUC and it will activate using the built-in key. Windows 10 does not care where it is installed as long as it is on that same NUC. You could then disable the eMMC and just use the Windows 10 installed on the SSD. You will have to download drivers from http://www.downloadcenter.intel.com/ www.downloadcenter.intel.com for your NUC and install them yourself.

Hi

Apparently, the key is embedded in the BIOS. Microsoft doesn't provide COA stickers anymore on OEM systems.

Windows reads the key from here and activates it.

We're still waiting on some parts, but this is how it's supposed to work.

Hi Speeskeek,

The license key is embedded on the system (hardware). It will be necessary to attach the 2.5" HDD or SSD to NUC and follow:

Hi Svendsen,

I have never cloned the operating system from the eMMC drive.

Community, I would appreciate your feedback on this question.

Hi

I ended up with:

windows 10 on a USB key.

Uncheck the eMMC drive in bios.

Install Windows 10 on the SSD - it take the license key from the system (hardware)

no problem at all :-)

There is a free tool available on the web, called ProduKey, that will display the license key. It works on any version of Windows.

Hope this helps,
