Hello. Can someone please recommend which one of these two will work best for this NUC:
- Samsung 960 EVO MZ-V6E1T0BW - Solid state drive - encrypted - 1 TB - internal - M.2 2280 - PCI Express 3.0 x4 (NVMe) - 256-bit AES
- Samsung 860 EVO MZ-N6E1T0BW - Solid state drive - encrypted - 1 TB - internal - M.2 2280 - SATA 6Gb/s - buffer: 1 GB - 256-bit AES
Feel free to recommend something else as well.

I will go with the NVMe drive Samsung 960 EVO MZ-V6E1T0BW:
1. The NVMe drive outperforms the SATA by far.
2. The NVMe drive was validated by Intel for this NUC: http://compatibleproducts.intel.com/ProductDetails/ExportPeripheralInfo?moduleName=Intel%C2%AE%20NUC... Intel® Product Compatibility Tool

I would add that the 970 PRO and EVO drives are now available. They have better performance and, in some cases, better prices that the corresponding 960 PRO and EVO drives.
Here is an excerpt from my tracking chart:

Thank you very much for your informative answer.
If you dont mind me asking one more question. What is your opinion about the following RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum - DDR4 - DIMM 288-pin - 2666 MHz / PC4-21300 - CL15 - 1.2 V - unbuffered - non-ECC
Any other recommendation is welcome.

The memory you referenced has a speed of 2666 MHz. The supported maximum memory speed for the HN/NV NUCs is 2400 MHz. I would recommend that you choose different memory that complies with this maximum. Faster memory won't improve performance and could cause operational and startup issues.
I am using 2x16GB Crucial DDR4-2133 SODIMMs (CT2K16G4SFD8213) in an HV NUC without issue.

Thanks for your answer.
The model of Crucial you have sadly is not available on my online store (sadly I cannot order from a different store this time). Which one would you pick from the following options:
- Corsair Vengeance LPX - DDR4 - 32 GB: 2 x 16 GB - DIMM 288-pin - 2400 MHz / PC4-19200 - CL14 - 1.2 V - unbuffered - non-ECC
- Corsair Vengeance - DDR4 - 32 GB: 2 x 16 GB - SO-DIMM 260-pin - 2400 MHz / PC4-19200 - CL16 - 1.2 V - unbuffered - non-ECC
- Corsair Vengeance LPX - DDR4 - 32 GB: 2 x 16 GB - DIMM 288-pin - 2400 MHz / PC4-19200 - CL16 - 1.2 V - unbuffered - non-ECC - black
Thanks

Well, considering that only one of these is in the DDR4 SO-DIMM form factor that is required, the choice would be obvious. I have had no personal experience with Corsair memory so cannot say anything further regarding their applicability.

The store just called me to let me know that this model is also available:
Crucial - DDR4 - 32 GB: 2 x 16 GB - SO-DIMM 260-pin - 2400 MHz / PC4-19200 - CL17 - 1.2 V - unbuffered - ECCIs this ok for this nuc?

Unfortunately no. You cannot use ECC SODIMMs.

For more information on memory requirements, consult section 1.5 of the TPS. This document is available here: https://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/en/documents/mini-pcs/nuc-kits/NUC8i7HVK_TechProdSpec.p... Technical Product Specification for Intel NUC NUC8i7HVK.

ECC dimms may function in the system as normal dimms would, but the added ECC functionality will not be usable.
This is your mileage may vary territory. The 8809G processor and platform do not support the ECC configurations.

Scott,
Response to the memory speed max of 2400 ... in the technical specification it has the added "+" next to the last zero, reading 2400+.
I struggled with this when considering the purchase of the NUC8i7HVK, and instead opted for the 2400, and the question has been lingering for a while in the noodle.
In fact, for the NUC8i7HVK, Intel has validated several modules in excess of the 2400 MHz.
See Here: http://compatibleproducts.intel.com/ProductDetails/ExportPeripheralInfo?moduleName=Intel%C2%AE%20NUC... http://compatibleproducts.intel.com/ProductDetails/ExportPeripheralInfo?moduleName=Intel%C2%AE%20NUC...…
So I think it's very confusing for Intel not to come right out and state that for this NUC 2400 MHz is not the Max, but do refer to their "tested and validated memory module list."

Mike,
The POR memory speed for the processor is 2400, however the processor supports overclocking of the memory both through SPD adjustment as well as manual timings on top of XMP settings.
We do apologize that the verbiage is causing confusion as that is not the intent.
