I plug the NUC from thunderbolt to display port into an 8K monitor that it supports, but I only see 4K, not 8K, why?

Tacotaco, Thank you for posting in the Intel® Communities Support.

In order for us to provide the most accurate assistance on this matter, we just wanted to confirm a few details about your system:

What is the complete model of the Intel® NUC?

What is the specific model of the monitor?

Is this a new Intel® NUC?

When did you purchase it?

Were you able to use the 8K resolution on this same machine before?

When did the issue start?

Did you make any recent hardware/software changes?

Which Windows* version are you using?

Does the problem happen at home or in the work environment?

Please attach the SSU and graphics reports so we can verify further details about the components in your platform, check all the options in the report including the one that says "3rd party software logs":

Any questions, please let me know.

NUC11TNKi3

Dell UP3218K

It's a new NUC, purchased and received in the last few weeks.

I have not seen 8K from this NUC before, since I got it, but I have seen 8K with the monitor using the same cable with a laptop.

I have tried with ubuntu 20.04 or ubuntu-server 20.04. I tried installing drivers that are installed on a computer that runs 8K with the same monitor. Windows has not been tried. If there is a corresponding SSU and graphics report for Ubuntu 20.04 I could try that.

An SSD and memory were installed on the NUC.

It occurs whether connected to network or not.

Tacotaco, Thank you very much for providing that information.

It is important to mention, that Intel® Product Compatibility Tool lists non-Windows operating system versions that are reported as compatible by Intel® NUC users. Intel hasn't validated these operating systems and the drivers that we have on our website official website were tested and validated for Windows* as Operating System, as you can confirm in the links below:

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/search.html?ws=idsa-suggested#q=nuc11tnki3&t=Downloads&layou...

Still, we will do our best in order to try to find a possible solution for this scenario in trying to use the 8K resolution. "If there is a corresponding SSU and graphics report for Ubuntu 20.04 I could try that." yes please, once you get the chance, please provide the SSU report so we can further assist you:
