NUC11BTMi7 - USB set to no power

Following Problem:

All USB devices are set to "no power" (iirc) in BIOS. Setting stated that in BIOS USB will still work... (iirc) But how can i get back into the bios without any input USB devices?

I still have access to the Windows OS machine through remote connection, but not to the advanced boot options menu because since windows 11 its rebooting for this menu.

How is it possible to reset the BIOS-Settings to default without any USB input needed?

I have tried to unset the 3-Pin Jumper for recovery options but i can't choose any option on boot obviously.

if there isn't anything i can do:

There is a 4-pin picoblade USB 2.0 Port on the mainboard that may still work (i think its used for the rgb lightning controls), does someone know any source where to buy a such a cable?

Hi Jean,

sadly the CMOS Reset only effects the clock and none of the BIOS settings.

I've finally solved my problem this way:

I had a PCIe USB3 card (ASUS U3S6 in this. case) laying around which provided me with powered USB devices even in the BIOS. Now all is working again. This is a quite easy and obvious solution I should have thought about earlier...

RMA is not necessary

Regards

You may look on this one from Micro SATA Cables: NUC Internal USB 2.0 Cable with USB A Female to 4 Pin Connector - 7 Inch.

Hello Knop,

Thank you for posting on the Intel️® communities.

If you are looking to set the BIOS to defaults. I would recommend clearing the CMOS by removing the CMOS battery. You can locate the CMOS battery on the Technical Product Specification for intel Nuc products, page 12.

Hi Jean,

I have tried the Battery CMOS Reset option. Left my nuc without power for about 20 min with no effect. Maybe not long enough? I'll try the usb 2.0 cable next (tomorrow).

Regards.

Hello Knop,

Thanks for your response.

Unfortunately, the picoblade USB 2.0 Port is already included in the BIOS. As you mentioned in your first post "All USB devices are set to "no power" in BIOS.". If you try connecting a device using this port header, the USB device may not work as the USB ports are set to "no power".

You should try the Battery CMOS Reset option. However, this time wait over 24 hours, so we can confirm that it has any effect on your unit.

If the issue still persists. I would recommend replacing your unit.

Verify that your warranty is still active here. Directly contact Intel Customer Support to initiate the RMA process (you cannot do this through the forums). Here are pages where you can look up contact information, including local/country phone numbers, by geography:
