Latest BIOS version 063 installed but Wake On Lan is not working.

Anybody has this working with the NUC 11 Extreme?

Hello @Win7ine

Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities.

First, we would suggest reviewing the steps and recommendations in this article:

Configure Wake-On LAN for Intel® NUC and Intel® Compute Sticks

Also, we recommend reviewing the list of drivers available for your Intel® NUC and updating your network drivers if they're not on the latest versions (e.g.: Ethernet and Wireless): Latest Drivers & Software for Intel® NUC 11 Extreme Kit - NUC11BTMi9.

If the behavior persists and in order to review this further, could you please provide us with the following details?

1- Just to make sure, did the issue start with BIOS version 0063? Does it mean it works fine with previous BIOS versions like 0062?

2- Please elaborate more on the actual configuration. For instance, is the Intel® NUC connected to a home router, an intermediate switch, a peer-to-peer connection to another computer, etc? Or are you trying to use Wake-on-LAN (WoL) via Wireless?

3- Are you using IPv4 or IPv6?

4- Run the Intel® System Support Utility (Intel® SSU) to gather more details about the system:

  • Download the Intel® SSU and save the application on your computer
  • Open the application, check the "Everything" checkbox, and click "Scan" to see the system and device information. The Intel® SSU defaults to the "Summary View" on the output screen following the scan. Click the menu where it says "Summary" to change to "Detailed View".
  • To save your scan, click Next and click Save.
  • Once you have saved the file (.txt file), please attach it to your reply.

To upload and attach a file, use the "Drag and drop here or browse files to attach" option below the response textbox.

Hi @AndrewG_Intel ,

1 - Not certain it worked with 62 but previously with 50 for sure.

2 - NUC11BTMi9 is connected directly to a 2.5G port of router, also have a NUC11TNKi7 and NUC11TNHi5 where WOL works connected to the same router through two separate switches in different locations.

3 - IPv4 mostly, not that it has much to do with WOL at all I believe.

4 - Will provide later if really necessary

Looking for sombody @ Intel or any another user who can confirm WOL (with BIOS 063) is working for them or not as it happens with me.

Hello Win7ine

Thank you for your response and for your patience in this matter.

We are still working on this matter and actually, and we may need to get more details from your side. Could you please confirm the following information?

  1. What operating system and version is installed?
  2. What LAN driver is installed on the NUC?
  3. What do you do to put the system into a sleep state? For instance, do you let it go to sleep by using the sleep timer from Windows? Do you manually send it to sleep from the Windows Start/Power icon?
  4. Also, please provide us with the Intel® SSU report following the steps in our post from 09-27-2022

Note:

We tested WoL after Power => Sleep (in Windows 10) and we weren't able to duplicate the issue, please refer to this video for reference: https://drive.google.com/file/d/11d8GOsAsD9omBVTEFkdSCD23bCS7NMgD/view?usp=sharing.

Feel free to point out any missing steps or configurations.

1: Windows 11 Pro - Version 22H2 - OS build 22621.674
2: NIC driver 2.1.1.7 (only one available for W11) dated 2.2.2022

3: sleep is disabled, machine is off after shutdown -> this is where WOL should work but does not.

4: intel SSU report contains associated NIC MAC address and other private info that I am reluctant to share publicly in this forum.
