NUC11BTMi9 front panel sockets not working

Hello - recently purchased a NUC11BTMi9 and built it up (Win 11 Home).  Everything works fine except the front panel I/O sockets, not sure why.   I have checked device manager and no warnings, all hardware has been identified with drivers installed... im worried I may have a faulty unit.  Can anyone advise on how to resolve this issue?

I have been using the rear USB ports just fine...

The typical cause for this issue is that the cable that connects the Front Panel I/O devices to the NUC 11 Extreme Compute Element is not plugged in properly. This cable plugs into the Internal USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C 20pin (Key B) header on this Compute Element. This header is Item B in Figure 12, NUC11 Extreme Compute Element Headers and Connectors, on page 24 of document Intel NUC 11 Extreme Kit/Compute Element Product Specification

Hope this helps,
