Hello,
I just finished installing the NUC11PAHi5 with windows 10, looks great, I am trying to connect it to the APPLE 27" THUNDERBOLT CINEMA DISPLAY with Apple thunderbolt 3 to thunderbolt 2, but it's not working.
I updated the latest BIOS and installed the all the latest drivers, with no luck.
I know similar issue was raised in a different questions with no final solution:
Please comment if you have any possible solution.

I do not believe that TBT3 to TBT2 converters are supported.

Hi Scott,
Thank you for your response, I hoped maybe there will be at least kind of workaround! I am trying to understand the issue, is it hardware or software.
Tnx

Unfortunately, I don't have the hardware (monitor or converter) to test this, one way or the other. I wonder if Intel Customer Support does?

I found the following adapters TB 3 to TB2 in https://thunderbolttechnology.net/ website, they all recommended adapters and supposed to be thunderbolt certified:
This product have more than one case of connecting different windows systems to APPLE 27" THUNDERBOLT CINEMA DISPLAY, but some also didn't work! In the product website their is a clear Note:
"Your computer's Thunderbolt 3 ports might not function properly until you update one or more of the following on your computer:
- BIOS
- Thunderbolt firmware
- Thunderbolt 3 controller drivers
- Thunderbolt 3 software"
The adapter supports MacOS, understandably this is not the best fit for the UNC11PAHi5 with windows 10 installed as OS.
This product supports MacOS and windows but I couldn't find anyone using it to connect to APPLE 27" THUNDERBOLT CINEMA DISPLAY.
The valid option is https://thunderbolttechnology.net/product/thunderbolt%E2%84%A2-3-thunderbolt-adapter-windows-only,
but as the warning note from the website states it might not function properly mainly due software support: BIOS, Firmware, controller driver, etc...
It seems to be the issue is about software and driver support rather than hardware, it will be great if intel customer support can clarify @Ronny_G_Intel .

I Contacted StarTech.com to ask them, and the response was:
" We have not specifically tested our adapter with the NUC you are using but we have tested our adapter with Apple Thunderbolt displays and it does work with it so as long as the computer and display are Thunderbolt in some capacity it should work. That being said, there may be some settings you have to adjust in the BIOS on the NUC to get it working but every system is different and some BIOS settings do not have as many options as some so you may need to contact Intel for assistance with that side of things if it doesn't work right away. Also updating the BIOS may be required."

Hey @David_G_Intel ,
Thank you for your working on the issue! I wondered if you have any updates?
In in the meantime I have another issue with the NUC11PAHi5, and probably related to the graphic unit too. I am connecting it to HP monitor in the meantime , and the screen goes black and only after restart I can work with the NUC.
This can happen while I am working (and while I am writing this message twice), or while I leave it for number for minutes not active (I extended the sleep time but this didn't help).
1. The NUC connected to the monitor and HDMI cable, I tried three different cables all of them working with other devices.
2. Windows have latest updates (see Win Ver. image below).
3. Intel Drivers bundle is downloaded and updated including BIOS latest version (See Intel System info image below).
4. HP monitor Driver is also updated (see monitor Driver image below).
I would appreciate it if you have any advice. It is becoming an issue!
Regards
Carmel

Hi Carmel,
I work for Intel Customer Support and I have to let you know that we usually dont test or validate Apple* devices with our NUCs, customers running Apple devices usually use Apple systems as well, and in my experience, Apple does a lot of product customization which causes interconnectivity issues with non-Apple systems.
On the other hand, we can tell that the NUC is working since you have it attached to an HP monitor.
Please confirm that the HP monitor is this one: HP E24 G4 FHD, run the Intel SSU and attach the log file to this community so that I can check your system configuration and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Hi @Ronny_G_Intel ,
The NUC did work, I was able to install OS! I wonder why other company like dell laptops do support by installing the proper driver.
The problem with HP screen issue was solved by reducing the graphics card memory settings in the BIOS.
Unfortunately I can't send you a log files because I returned the NUC and got Apple Mini.

Hi @Carmel
Thanks for the update and I am glad to hear that you were able to get the OS running and figured out the issue with the HP monitor but I am sorry to hear that you returned the NUC and got some else.
I am closing this ticket but please feel free to reach out to us if need anything else and I hope you still consider our products for any other purchase in the future.
Regards,
Ronny G
