Hi,
I had the original NUC11PAHi7. With that I had an issue with CEC: when turned Off (i.e. unselected in the BIOS) whenever I would turn on the NUC, the NUC would steal focus and change the TV input to the NUC. Not a huge issue, and I was also able to fix this by turning On CEC (HDMI CEC Control), and then selecting the following:
Auto Turn On Display: Disabled
Auto Turn off Display: Disabled
Wake On Display: Disabled
Standby by Display: Disabled
With these settings the NUC wouldn't turn on the TV or change the input of the TV to the NUC.
Now I have the NUC11PAHi70Z - and I have the same issue. But, this time the trick I used on the previous NUC doesn't work anymore. So whatever I set CEC to (on or off, or on with the above settings) - the NUC always changes the input to the NUC, and also turns on the TV if it is turned off.
Again - not a huge issue but it would be nice if it could be fixed. This is with the latest BIOS update (48).
Kind regards,
Jaap

NUC11PAHi7 and NUC11PAHi70Z are the same; same baseboard, same processor, same chassis, etc. - and, with the same BIOS installed, should be offering the same CEC support.
Also, are you saying that, with its CEC support disabled, the NUC11PAHi70Z is still turning the TV off and on?

They aren't the same. They might appear to be, but there are differences. I know because I had both and had mine exchanged because of TrueHD issues.
But yes, also with CEC returned off (i.e. not checked on in the BIOS) it does turn the TV on and changes the input to the NUC. Or, if the TV was on already, but on another input, it will put the input to the NUC.

Hi @Jaap7
To confirm, on the original PA, the BIOS defaults are that CEC control is selected, i.e. turned on. Are you saying when de-selecting CEC control, the NUC exhibits the issue?
Same for the new PA? When CEC control is not selected the issue occurs?

Hi Chris,
Old NUC:
HDMI CEC Control Turned Off in BIOS (i.e. checkbox not selected): NUC turned on TV when turning on the NUC, or if the TV was already on it changed the TV input to the NUC. This is not expected of course - because you would think with CEC turned off it would do nothing. But it did - so seemed like a bug.
The New NUC has that exact same issue.
But with the Old NUC I could work around that with these settings:
Turn On HDMI CEC Control and then use these settings:
Auto Turn On Display: Disabled
Auto Turn off Display: Disabled
Wake On Display: Disabled
Standby by Display: Disabled
Then the NUC wouldn't do anything with the TV. So it basically functioned like the CEC was turned off.
That trick doesn't work anymore with the new NUC. The new NUC always turns on the TV and always changes the input to the NUC.

Hello Jaap7.
Thanks for all the information provided so far. I would like to let you know that we were not able to replicate this issue (you can see the video attached).
Please take a video where we can see the issue that you are mentioning.
Best regards,

Hi Deivid,
I made 2 videos - but they are much larger than the max of 71 MB. I can share them with wetransfer. For that I would need an e-mail address - if you can PM me one I can share them with you.
Edit: I just saw your video - thank you for that. In the video though the TV is turned on by the NUC. And that is my issue: the NUC is turning on the TV even when CEC is turned off, even when the settings for it are set to not turn on the TV.

Hi,
Yes, I still need assistance because the same issue still exists
But did you try turning off CEC in the BIOS and then see what the NUC does?
I'll try to upload the videos this weekend.
Cheers,
Jaap

Hi Jaap7,
Thanks for the videos provided, we are currently investigating your report.
I checked your community post and I can't find an SSU log file attached to it. Can you please provide it? This will help us replicate the issue with the exact same firmware and drivers, will also recommend that you update your system before running the SSU tool.
In order to update your system you may use Intel® Driver & Support Assistant: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/intel-driver-support-assistant.html
And the Intel® System Support Utility (SSU) is available here: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000008563/ethernet-products.html, we need a copy of the log files.
