I am using both NUC11PHKi7C and NUC8i7HVK as system controller for our company's products. NUC8i7HVK is working fine but NUC11PHKi7C turned out to have limited PCIe bus resources.
<removed>
NUC8i7HVK has bus number range of [0, fe], while NUC11PHKi7C has bus number range of [0, 5f]. This limitation cause system built with NUC11PHKi7C will only support limited number of PCIe devices, which is a bit problem for us. This limitation lies in Aptio BIOS. Compatibity tools in the above link failed solve this problem for us.
Is it possible to increase bus number range for NUC11PHKi7C?
Thanks!

What are you installing into the NUC that is exposing this limitation?
I would mention that, in neither of these products was any support (intentionally) provided for installing devices other than NVMe/SATA SSDs into the M.2 Type M sockets (i.e., no support for other PCIe-based devices). There would thus be no guarantee that something that happened to work in the HV NUC will also work in the PH NUC.

I am using thunderbolt port to add PCIe devices. With thunderbolt I can add many more PCIe devices than the M.2 socket. I am connecting a PCIe bridge board to thunderbolt and it is inserted into an external PXIe chassis, with which I can install more PCIe devices.

Hello Cenwei,
Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities.
Could you please provide more details/specifications about the Thunderbolt PCIe bridge board?
As well, are you getting any error message or are the devices connected to the bridge board just not being recognized?
Best regards,
Steven G.

Hi Steven,
I tried several workaround these days, and by using a BIOS compatibility tool I am able to get this system up and running fine now.
I will try adding more PCIe devices and see if the system still works.
Thanks!

Thanks Steve, I don't have further request for now. I have workaround to solve my problem. Hopefully future NUCs will allow more PCIe devices.
