Hello @xayide
Thank you for posting on the Intel️® communities.
I would like to confirm what do you mean when you say by using passthrough.
Also, Error Code 43 can be caused by hardware problems or driver or settings corruption. To address this issue, we recommend performing a clean install of the latest graphics and wireless drivers provided by the system manufacturer since these drivers are customized.
- Graphics driver 30.0.101.1191 (https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/19350/intel-graphics-dch-driver-for-intel-nuc.html)
- Graphics Clean installation (https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000022173/wireless.htmlhttps://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000022173/wireless.html)
- Wireless driver 22.110.0.2 (https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/716640/intel-wireless-technology-based-driver-for-windows-10-windows-11-for-intel-nuc-products.html)
- Clean installation wireless (https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000022173/wireless.html)
For error 43 on the wireless adapter, you can also try the following steps:
- Open Internet Explorer, select Tools > Internet options.
- Go to the Connections tab
- Click LAN Settings
- uncheck Automatically detect settings
- Uninstall your Antivirus Software
I hope you find this information helpful.
Best regards,
Jean O.

This is the result on a newly installed Windows 10 VM on ESXi trying to use VT-D. Graphics installs fine but wifi gets Error 10 cannot start device.
After reboot you get this BSOD. Removing Wifi doesn't help, removing Iris XE GPU passthrough works.
I do have the newest BIOS updated today and the drivers above that you recommended (latest)

Hello xayide,
I want to confirm if your issue is only present when you are only running your VM? As you faced a BSOD when running the VM, it seems as if the VM is not configured properly.
Also, create a report using the Intel
• Download the Intel SSU (https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/18377/25293/intel-system-support-utility-for-windows.html)
• Open the application and click on "Scan" to see the system and device information. By default, Intel
• Click on the menu where it says: "Summary" to change it to "Detailed View."
• To save your scan: click on "Next"; then "Save."
Let me know if your NUC11TNHV50L works under a normal workload.

Hello,
The NUC works in non-virtualised Windows 10. But VT-D is not use in native Windows only in virtualised so it's not relevant.
I also have a Lenovo Laptop (L14 G2 with 1165G7) that does the exact same thing using VT-D, doing google on the matter makes me believe there is something fundamentally wrong with Iris XE and the support fort VT-D / SR-IOV.
I attach the SSU without GPU added and then with GPU but not restarted since it crashes on first reboot.

Hello xayide,
I appreciate the information provided.
As your unit works as expected under normal workload (none-Virtualized), the issue is related to the virtualization hypervisor. My recommendation is to contact the hypervisor support for the virtualization tool you are using to seek assistance for your problem.
I hope you find this information has been helpful.

Tried two more hypervisors.... KVM and Proxmox with the same result. Are you sure this is working? How did this getting tested at Intel? What hypervisor did you use to confirm it works? VT-D is only used in hypervisors...

Hello xayide,
Thanks for your response.
I referred that the unit is working under a normal workload; I mentioned that the Intel® NUC does not present any issue in a none-Virtualized environment, meaning that there is no issue within the system.
As you have tried multiple virtualization hypervisors, I want to confirm the steps you perform to replicate the issue; what are you doing when you are on the virtualized environment until you receive the BSOD?
Best regards,
Jean O.

Hello,
I install the hypervisor, enable vt-d and reboot the hypervisor. Install a new guest os (vm). Add the VT-D pci-device to the VM reboot and it works but no gpu hw accel. I install the drivers from intel for the xe iris gpu inside the vm and reboot. Then after reboot there is this bsod. Happens only on the 11th gen with iris xe. Works with 10th and 8th gen intel cpu/gpu HD620/630 in nuc and laptop.
I also tried with SR-iov which is also promised to be supported, but the option is missing in bios. So it was more of a hunch but cannot get the device to work here either.
How and with what software did you confirm correct SR-IOV and VT-D function with NUC 11th gen?

Hello xayide,
Thanks for waiting for a response.
The issue you mentioned is not related to your Intel® NUC since the unit is working as expected when you are not using any virtualization software. Keep in mind that when using Windows native Hyper-V may conflict with similar virtualization technologies, such as VT-d and VT-x. You can try disabling Hyper-V; however, this is only supported by Microsoft.

Jean O.

OK but I could confirm with the same hypervisor you used in your qualification of the product, which one is that?

Hello xayide,
This should work under any hypervisor as your Intel® NUC accepts and works with virtualization.
