I've been struggling to get the front usb panel working. I read some reddit posts suggesting that the 2 usb header cables could easily be loosen so I did try and reconnect both. that the type C and usb-A ports work. but still the 3.5mm jack and sdxc cards are not working. i tried several time securing the 2 usb cables but no luck.
From this block diagram, it seems the front 3.5mm jack, SDXC reader and usb-A port are sharing the same connection to the mainboard. it's beyond me how come both usb ports work but the 3.5mm jack and reader aint!
I find a thin 2pin cable left dangling, unconnected but dont have a clue if it's loosen or i could leave it just hanging around (see photos). except the front 3.5mm jack and SDXC card not working, I couldnt find anything not functioning so far.
Could anyone help please! Thanks in advance.

Hello ddlo,
Thank you for posting on the Intel️® communities.
Could you try to follow the cable trace to confirm what is at the other end of the cable?
Also, I want to confirm if you still have some problems with the front USB pannel. Let me know if there is any issue with it.
Best regards,
Jean O.

thanks Jean. I've got this sorted. actually just the usb header cables loosen. i opened the nuc again and push all four connectors of the 2 usb header cables then the audio jack as well as sdxc reader works.
the thin 2 pin cable seems coming from the baseboard but it's blocked by the modular cables of the psu so i cant really see. as everything works i didnt bother to unplug everything - and risking of loosen cables again - to check .

Hello @ddlo,
Thanks for waiting for a response
After reviewing your issue, we conclude that the loosened cable seems to be a 4pin PWM Fan Header, so we would like to recommend checking if the NUC card fan header is working to void any potential issue.

Thanks Jean for the update. But in my intel NUC Software Studio, if i changed the thresholds and force the system fans to run, all the fans (CPU, system fans 1 and 2) are working. it seems the cable is not for the fans.

Hello @ddlo,
Thanks for waiting for a response.
The cable is a spare USB 2.0 micro header. It's not used with the current design and can be tucked away without interfering with anything.
