A quick look at the new i9-13900 processor tells me that the power requirements are almost identical to the i9-12900. Will there be a BIOS update to support this new processor?

crhendo, Thank you for posting in the Intel® Communities Support.
In reference to your inquiry, the answer is no, none of the Intel® NUC models have the option to replace the processor.
Any questions, please let me know.

Such a shame. Finally you provide your Customers with the ability to swap CPU's and now you take away the ability to do so by not upgrading the BIOS. One of the major reasons I purchased this NUC was that the CPU wasn't soldered in AND could easily allow the upgrade of future generations of CPU's with the same chipset (just like all the other motherboard vendors).
This is not good.

Thank you, I appreciate the effort.
Could you please let me know which department and/or individual you will be reaching out to?
I believe this artificial limitation you have placed on your own chipset is at the very least unethical and at worst a total betrayal of your NUC Customer base.

Just because there is a socket on the board does not mean it will get an update. It is most likely for ease of manufacturing so they do not have to build multiple boards to support multiple CPU models.
I’ve tried putting a 65w 13900 CPU in one of these and it does not even post. I wouldn’t hold my breath for a 13th Gen update anytime soon.
