NUC12WSHi7 incompatible Monitor (verified)

Hi

I just bought the brand new NUC12WSHi7. It was with huge disappointment when I tried to connect this to a Samsung monitor. Lucky enough i got a LG Oled TV and a Dell monitor Dell2412m which I managed to connect to and to try to troubleshoot the issue.

Hardware:

Monitor is Samsung C49RG90, this is a beast of 49 wider inch Monitor.

NUC12WSHi7

Problem:

I noticed that when connecting the monitor via HDMI - USB-c the maximum resolution in Windows is 1920x1080p. I can't access any higher resolution. The max resolution for the monitor is 5120 x 1440.

Second problem is that the NUC12 does not recognise the monitor and does not allow access or does not get signal from NUC during boot so access to BIOS is not available.

Spoken to a friend of mine he has same issue.

Troubleshooting:

All latest drivers has been installed, as well windows update has been run.

Would like to get to know how to raise this issue and with whom?

Hello Feejus,

Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities.

In order to further work on this, please provide the following information:

  • Have you tried a straight connection (e.g. DP to DP, Thunderbolt to Thunderbolt, etc.) between the monitor and the NUC?
  • While the monitor is connected and giving image, look for the Intel® Graphics Command Center > Go to Support > Click on System Diagnostic > Click on Generate report > Save the report as a .txt file and attach it to your reply.
  • Download the Intel® SSU https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25293/Intel-System-Support-Utility-for-Windows-

Open the application and select "Everything", click on "Scan" to see the system and device information. By default, Intel® SSU will take you to the "Summary View". Click on the menu where it says "Summary" to change to "Detailed View". To save your scan, click on "Next", then "Save". Please attach the file to your reply.

Hi Steven,

Thank you for reaching out. I did not get notified about this update. However I have now read your response I do think some of the suggestion is simply not possible.

As you know NUC12WSHi7 does not have any DP ports. The only way to test this is by doing HDMI to HDMI. The answer was and is still yes. In fact what did worked was indirect solution on my old monitor Dell 2412m , I.E HDMI to DVI.

With above said, currently i do get the screen during boot up. I also recently updated the Firmware to the one from 14th of September. which might have helped to somewhat solve the issue.

I do have other issues, but i open a new question in here as for now this can be closed.

Steven is correct; you certainly do have DP ports. Two DP streams are embedded within your Thunderbolt (TBT) streams. USB-C-to-DP and/or USB-C-to-HDMI adapters can be used to expose these streams.

Just saying,

Thank you both for the help on this matter. My view is that the digital market need to clean up its act with so many standards and quality of cables.

I did not know that in the usb-c thunderbolt there is straight DP connection. In fact you suggesting this made me to invest in some new cable so will be able to run some test this evening or end of the week.
