NUC6CAYH slow USB 3.0 ports

I've just bought the NUC so I don't have any previous experiences (benchmarks). I've made all driver updates including latest 42 BIOS. OS is Win10 Pro clean install.

One thing I noticed are slow USB ports. I've tried system SSD to USB, USB to SSD, USB to USB, and the max seq write is 40 MB/s.

I checked/verified BIOS settings, set Power options to High performance, I even re-checked SSD and USB drives but they work fine and fast.

Does anyone have an idea what's wrong? What are your USB speeds?

Regards,

Thomas

Alex,

Don't be silly. The fact that something isn't listed in the compatibility list doesn't mean it is not compatible; it just means that it hasn't been formally tested.

1- The correct answer by intel when opening an incident or claim of this type must be, we know the problem and we are solving this. Okay. Very good.

2- It is inaccessible by Intel to say: your device only supports 3 hdd.

As for the flicker on my monitor, the perfect refresh is 50 Hz. The image is very good.

Try this and see if it is corrected.

Sorry, my english again.

I hope, N Scott that soon the problem will be solved.

A greeting.

I hope to write the next time with the problem solved.

Again, no one has said that only those three external drives are supported. All it means is that only those three external drives have been tested by Intel.

Intel tests what they have; they are not going to spend a fortune acquiring more devices to test. If folks would like to contribute devices for testing, I am sure this can be arranged...

I open an incidence in intel about the usb 2.0 speed in my intel nuc and they answer me that only these three discs are verified and intel close the incidence.

This is normal ?

Does this answer seem normal?

I hope you understand my post now.

No, that doesn't sound right. They must have unduly blamed the device for the issue. Regardless, they know now that they were wrong. We'll just have to wait for the fix now...

my original post:

a little update: 0045 has not fixed slow USB 3.0 ports. But 0045 seems to have fixed the HDMI 60Hz glitches on my end. Screen looks stable. Bigger issue is the slow USB ports.

The USB issue is being worked as we speak and the fix will be included in a subsequent BIOS update.

Scott, do you work with Intel to make the claims?

Intel offers me a change of my intel with bios 0043 for another RMA with bios 0038.

It makes me think that the problem is serious.

I do not know what to do ?

What do I think? There is absolutely nothing wrong with your NUC; why would you want to return it? Your USB ports are slow. So what? You know this is a BIOS bug, not a hardware issue, and that it will be fixed fairly soon. Right now, you have a new NUC; if you return it for exchange, getting a new one back is NOT guaranteed. Be smart; show some patience and wait for the BIOS fix.

I am retired. I am here as a volunteer; nothing more...

Yea, the wait is over!

I am seeing rates as high as 180MB/s.

how about the CPU Microcode and performance impact? do we have to be tester?

if noticeable performance it would be nice to have an BIOS version with USB 3.0 fixed and without microcode update.

The 0047 bios update is nowhere to be found...

Its says the latest is 0045 / built on 12/18/2017

So I had to find it by other means by googling AY0047.bio and lucky I found a mirror.

They pulled all recent updates because of Spectre/Meltdown broken fix. Well, my NUC is on 0047 and it didn't reboot unexpectedly so far...

Hi folks,

i've purchased a NUC6CAYH and i've experienced the same USB 3.0 issue. Yesterday i've updated the BIOS at the latest version (0047) and for me the problem aren't solved. The USB ports speed, with an external Western Digital 1Tb USB 3.0 hard disk, remain around 28/30 Mb/s. This, for me, is an annoying problem. Can someone help me to solve this?

Cheers
