NUC6CAYS unregocnized disk drive

Jump to solution

Recently purchased NUC; added 8GB memory (which is ok) and 2 TB HDD. The HDD is a Seagate ST2000LM003, which is on the compatibility list. The BIOS recognizes it; shows up in Windows Device Manager, but Windows 10 (build 15063) 64-bit does not recognize it when I try to add a new drive. The BIOS version is AYAPLCEL.86A.0027.2016.1108.1529. Any suggestions?

Hello betanro

In order to see and use your new HDD in Windows you have first initialize it and format it. How to do this you can learn in this clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZxV6IcNvbek How to Initialize and Format a New Hard Drive in Windows 10 - YouTube I suggest that you shall chose GPT type partition rather than MBR type. The process is very simple and well explained in the clip.

Hope this helps
