NUC6i5SYH - Remote Control does not work

Jump to solution

Hello everyone,

I come back here, now to try to solve a problem found in my NUC.

I have a standard MCE remote control with a USB extender that works perfect with a Zotac Nano minipc, but I can't get it to work with NUC, using or not the extender.

I would like guidance on how to enable the feature.

I'm using BIOS 057. Will it be necessary to install some program in Windows 10 so that the remote control is activated?

Thank you.

I have a similar setup. To get the USB infrared to work I had to disable the built-in infrared in BIOS and uninstall the NUC CIR drivers. Next, plug in the USB, install the drivers provided with your USB extender -- and you should be good to go.

My USB extender simply wouldn't work with the NUC CIR enabled in BIOS.

CarlosLima: Thank you very much for getting in contact with the Intel® NUC communities. We are sorry to hear the NUC is not working as expected.

There is a newer BIOS version available in our web site, it is version 0061, we can try to install it using the F7 method in order to try to fix this problem:

I also found a link that says that the standard MCE remote control is included and was tested with the Zbox Nano AD10 Plus, so the remote control might not be fully compatible with a different NUC model, this could be just a compatibility situation:

On the link below you will find the tested peripheral for your NUC, where you can find some remote controls listed under "Multimedia Devices":

Hi jrhunt

Your tip was of great use, because in fact, I followed your guidance and the usb remote control extender worked perfectly.

I just disabled the infrared BIOS and did not delete the NUC CIR driver.

Many thanks for your tip.

Alberto R, considering the solution to the problem, I believe it is worth adding the Zotac remote control as a NUC6i5SYH compatible device, as long as it is disabled in the NUC BIOS.
