I am using an NUC6i7KYK for a digital music server. I installed the Roon ROCK OS after I updated the BIOS. I had problems when I tried to connect the HDMI port to my Denon AVR-X6200W receiver. I suspect the HDMI 2.0 firmware upgrade may solve my problem so I want to try it. Since I don't have the Windows OS installed on the NUC, I don't know how to install the firmware upgrade.
Does anyone know how to install the HDMI 2.0 firmware upgrade on an NUC6i7KYK running the Roon ROCK OS? Is it even possible?

Roon ROCK is not a supported OS. You are on your own here.

Since this is a "firmware" upgrade, and not a driver update, would it stay in effect if I were to install Windows 10, run the HDMI 2.0 firmware upgrader, and then re-install the unsupported OS?

One would assume so. But, this firmware update is provided/intended for the supported operating systems, not Roon ROCK.
We will have to wait for someone with more knowledge to confirm.
Maybe N.Scott.Pearson can comment?

Yes, it was good for Linux so, I don't see any reason why it will be not work for you:

Thanks for the links, Leon.
I will try that and report back with the results.

Leon is correct; the upgrade will stay in effect and improve things in Linux O/Ss as well. Remember that it is upgrading the firmware for the LSPcon IC, whose job it is to convert the processor's DP 1.2 signal into a corresponding HDMI 2.0 signal.

STATUS
I upgraded the BIOS on my NUC from 053 to 055.
I installed Windows 10 and applied updates.
I ran the HDMI 2.0 firmware upgrade program which indicated that the NUC already had the latest (final) version of the HDMI firmware.
I re-installed the Roon ROCK OS, and the problem still exists with the HDMI connection to the Denon AVR. I can connect the HDMI to my Oppo UDP-205, so I suspect the issue is with my Denon AVR.
Thanks to everyone who responded to this. Each response was valuable to me and I learned a lot.

The other possibility: it's in the Linux driver for Intel HD graphics.
