NUC7PJYH2 not booting

Hi,

i brought today a NUC7PJYH2 with following compontens :

- 250GB Crucial MX500 2.5" (6.4cm) SATA 6Gb/s 3D-NAND TLC (CT250MX500SSD1)

- 8GB (2x 4096MB) HyperX Impact DDR4-2400 SO-DIMM CL14-14-14-29 Dual Kit

when i switch the nuc on i have a black screen and the blue light blinks 3 times after 1-2min the nuc turns off and boot again.

looks like an issue withe the ram.

is there any change to get run the system with this ram or i schould buy another ram ?

Test using a single SODIMM. Try it in both the upper and lower SODIMM slots. If neither test succeeds, switch to the other SODIMM and test again.

Let us know the results,

If I guess correctly, you are using HyperX HX424S14IBK2/8: https://www.kingston.com/dataSheets/HX424S14IBK2_8.pdf https://www.kingston.com/dataSheets/HX424S14IBK2_8.pdf . If my guess is correct, each SODIMM is build from 8 SDRAM devices and the SDRAM density is 4Gbit (which is correct density for your NUC). However this memory wasn't checked by Intel.

Intel has checked similar kit made by HyperX: HX424S14IBK2/32 (2 X 16GB), also with correct parameters and this memory was found as incompatible: http://compatibleproducts.intel.com/ProductDetails/ExportPeripheralInfo?moduleName=Intel%C2%AE%20NUC... http://compatibleproducts.intel.com/ProductDetails/ExportPeripheralInfo?moduleName=Intel%C2%AE%20NUC...… .

So, I'll suggest to test other memory taken from the above mentioned Intel list.

You need ram with a CAS latency of 16 or more the G.Skills work fine i have these in my own PJYH.

I have bought a NUC8, but wants to know if HX424S14IBK2/32 are not supported and stable?

Hello @PLerc

NUC8 is not the complete model identification. Please describe the complete number. For example: NUC8i3BEH.

Since this is a different NUC model, please open a new conversation (ask a new question) for your issue.

Hi @PLerc

  1. In this case that you can't open new thread I'll answer here for your question and report the problem to the Community Manager @MaryT_Intel .
  2. In my post above I've my statement about instability of Kingston memory HX424S14IBK2/32 was related to NUC7PJYH2. This reported by Intel here: http://compatibleproducts.intel.com/ProductDetails/ExportPeripheralInfo?moduleName=Intel%C2%AE%20NUC...
  3. I believe that this is not relevant for NUC8i3BEK. Intel didn't verified this memory kit (2 X 16GB), however, memory HX424S14IB/16 was validated for your NUC. You may find in this list all validated by Intel Mmeory modules for your NUC http://compatibleproducts.intel.com/ProductDetails/ExportPeripheralInfo?moduleName=Intel%C2%AE%20NUC... . If some memory dosn't appears on this list, it doesn't mean that it will be not compatible. It means only that it wasn't tested by Intel.
