NUC7i3 on TV causing cable TV decoder on second HDMI channel flickering

Jump to solution

Hello,

My brand new Nuc7i3 has HDMI problems on my led TV (from 2008) with windows 10.

Nuc is working fine on HDMI 1

When switching to another HDMI channel (cable TV) it keeps switching.

Latest bios / graphic drivers are installed. Tried switched off HDMI CEC in bios.

I suspect intel HD graphics driver.

When in bios mode the HDMI2 channel where the cable TV decoder is on is working fine.

When using Ubuntu 18.04 as an OS No problems whatsoever!

Does anyone has a solution for this behaviour?

thanks, Jan

I can now say the problem has been solved by replacing the television.

I had a 2008 Panasonic TX-37LZD80F causing the mentioned problem.

I now have a 2015 Sony Bravia with none of the mentioned problems at all with windows 10.

regards,

Jan

Hello Jan_parcival,

I understand that you are having problems with the NUC and the TV decoder as there is flickering present.

Regarding this, to better assist you with your request, I will need to check some information about your computer. Please follow these steps:

1. In the keyboard, press WinLogo key + R.

2. In the Run box please type dxdiag and hit Enter.

3. Click on Save All Information (save it in your desktop).

4. Attach the report to this thread.

Also, please attempt to connect both of the devices in different HDMI ports, for example: NUC on HDMI1 and TV decoder on HDMI3 or 4.

Regards,

Hi David,

Thing is that when I tried Ubuntu 18.04 I installed it on the nuc's drive removing windows 10.

For my purposes Ubuntu actually just works fine so I didn't had the opportunity yet to open my nuc, put another HDD in it, install windows and try the diagnostic you mentioned.

regards,

Jan

Hello Jan_parcival,

Thank you for your response.

Since you are now using Ubuntu and it suits your purpose then I will proceed to close this request for now. However, if you install Windows* if the issue persists we will be here to assist you further, just reply to a message.

Also, I would like to know, the flickering issue stopped when using Ubuntu? Or is it still present? Because if it is then it is not a driver problem.

Let me know please.

Regards,

The flickering issue stopped when using Ubuntu.

It is a driver issue I think maybey in combination with the 2008 television.

I will be having another Television soon (one from 2015) so I will try windows in combination with the new television.
