NUC7i5 HDMI audio problems with receiver

So, I have 3 generations of NUC's and the new 7th gen seems to have the original problem as the older ones. I have an onkyo receiver and a panasonic TV.

If the NUC wakes from sleep without the receiver on (and set to that HDMI input), the audio on the NUC going forward will not work until you reboot the system. There is no way to "reactivate" the receiver as the speaker.

This has been a problem with the older generation NUC's and drivers seems to have fixed most of it. Ideally, the audio driver should re-establish the audio link on each wake (instead of just reboot). It negotiates the video fine via HDMI, but the audio is broken

Please fix!!! I have the latest driver, bios, etc...all installed

Hello gs05nyc,

I understand HDMI audio stops working when the Intel NUC wakes from sleep mode.

Let me apologize for any inconvenience this issue may be causing to you.

In order to help you better I would like to gather more information about the configuration you have in the computer. Please attach to this thread the DxDiag report. in order for you to generate the report click on the "Start Menu" -> Type "DxDiag" -> Press "Enter" -> Wait for the DirectX Diagnostic Tool to finish loading. In the DirectX Diagnostic Tool, click "Save All Information" -> Save the file DxDiag.txt

Please let me also know the model number of the TV and Onkyo receiver.

To attach a file, you must click "Use Advanced Editor" on the upper right hand corner of the response box, then the "attach" option will appear on the bottom right hand corner of the response box.

Regards,

The dxdiag file is attached and I have a Panasonic T60 Plasma and Onkyo 705.

I had this problem with another nuc and people raised this on the 5th gen forums and intel fixed it with a driver update.

I shouldnt have to restart each time if it wakes on its own and the receiver is not on

Was the same issue for the older NUC

They fixed it with a video fix, but the newer 7th gen seems to have the same issues

Hello gs05nyc,

Thanks for the information you sent to me.

I would like you to try installing different version of the graphics driver. Our graphics driver is the one that includes the driver for HDMI audio.

I would like you to uninstall the graphics driver and also the Intel Display Audio driver using the Device Manager method that is on this link https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005598.html https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/graphics-drivers/000005598.html

As soon as both drivers have been uninstalled restart the computer, and then install the graphics driver that is on this link https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26772/Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-15-45-?product=989... https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26772/Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-15-45-?product=989...

If possible make sure the Onkyo* 705 receiver has latest firmware installed.

Just for testing purposes, try connecting the Intel® NUC directly to the TV (without the receiver) and check if issue persists or not.

Let me know if issue persists or not.

Regards,

Same issue, it is software related.

I did write a batch file to disable and renable the audio driver on wake and its a workaround for bad intel drivers
