NUC7i5BNH This upgrade released 01-22 Does not work for me.
I normally have an HDMI Monitor attached to the TB port via USB3-HDMI cable. I had the old update 33 installed and the update program did nor detect and Thunderbolt interface so I reinstalled the original TB driver.
Then I tried to install the update with the display attached and also with the display attached to the HDMI port and nothing in the TB port.
In both cases the upgrade goes to the registry change
It performs the registry change and I reboot as requested.
After reboot and restarting the update it again asks to update registry
Perpetual Loop........
I'm on windows 1809 insider build 18317, not sure if that has anything to do with it.
I did a full system restore after trying this and ran driver assistant and it says all drivers up to date. I again installed TB firmware tbt_win10_64_17.2.71.250 and rebooted ran driver assistant again and it still says everything OK.....
But the latest u33 update is a no go.

David,
I just got a new windows insider build 18323 this morning so I decided to have a go again and it worked on this build.
Removed HDMI connected TV and disconnected my main display from the USB3 port and reconnected with HDMI Cable.
USB3/TB port Empty
Run installer it says No TB firmware detected so I have to reinstall tbt_win10_64_17.2.71.250, I hope that does not get removed on every windows update.
Reboot
Run installer again now the registry patch works and after reboot the update installs properly.
Not sure why the update does not detect any Thunderbolt capability at all since earlier I had my TV connected to the TB port with the old 33 update installed, it was connected via a Cable Matters USB C to HDTV Cable Supporting 4K 60Hz in Black 9.8 Feet' Ironically I disconnected it and put the TV on HDMI just because HDR was not working. My setup is such that it would be pretty complicated to change the configuration and test again so I will just leave the TV on HDMI.
Anyhow the driver installed lets see if it stays I will test again after next insider build.
