NUC7i5BNH - fresh windows 10 creator install, video driver crashes OS

Jump to solution

Fresh install of Windows 10 Creator edition. Works great without video driver.

When I install this video driver:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26772/Graphics-Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-15-45-?pr... Download Intel® Graphics Driver for Windows* [15.45]

towards the end of the install, screen freaks out, small colored vertical lines everywhere, then screen starts rotating through solid red, green, blue, and other test patterns.

After reboot, initial Windows icon shows then same thing. Driver freaks out.

Update to latest BIOS. Tried an earlier driver after restoring to a checkpoint. Same result.

Seems totally broken to me.

Anyone else with this issue?

Thanks,

Aaron

Hello bouki2048,

Thank you for contacting the Intel community.

I can confirm that with this driver we don't get a problem similar like yours, in our Lab we have updated to the Windows® creator and install this driver and there is no problem.

Do you also have all the latest https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/95067/Intel-NUC-Kit-NUC7i5BNH drivers installed?

Note: On April 11, 2017, Microsoft began the https://blogs.windows.com/windowsexperience/2017/04/25/windows-10-creators-update-rollout-first-phas... Windows®10 Creators Update rollout. Microsoft recommends—unless you're an advanced user who is prepared to work through some issues—that you wait until the Windows 10 Creators Update is automatically offered.

Thanks for following up Ivan.

I was able to get it working finally. I used the drivers from your bundle link. However, most, if not all were already installed. Two things changed for sure:

1. A windows update went through.

2. I used a different monitor 1080. I was installing on a 1440 monitor before.

3. Maybe I missed a driver from the bundle (chipset maybe?)

Personally, I think it is the 1440 monitor was the trouble (though it worked great under linux).

Regardless, I am glad it is working now!

Thanks again!

Aaron
