NUC7i5DNK, HDMI to DVI-D Single Link and Flickering

As it says in the title, I have a NUC7i5DNK with two HDMI outputs. I'm using the computer as a POS system and it connects to a El Touch screen monitor that only has DVI-D or VGA inputs. I've previously had great success using a HDMI to DVI-D Single (and Dual!) link cable to make this work, but that has failed utterly in this case. Every time I make this connection, the screen begins to flicker. I've used three different brands of cables, two single-link and one dual link. I've updated the graphics drivers, uninstalled them and reinstalled them, checked all the connections to make sure they're firm, tried both HDMI ports, all to no avail. I'm looking at nuking the computer and doing a fresh reinstall next, but I'd love to avoid that if possible. Anyone have some ideas? Does this particular NUC just not like DVI-D?

@LWAKSMAN​, thanks! That's a neat technological solution, even if it seems like this is something that should just work. It works fine on the Hades Canyon line, so I wonder if there is something specific about these chipsets that prevents. I appreciate the Plan B advice!

In reference to your question, yes, the Intel® NUC Kit NUC7i5DNKE and the Intel® Hades Canyon are different platforms, they use a different chipset and architecture which means they have different features. For this scenario, it seems that the El Touch Screen is not fully compatible with the Intel® NUC Kit NUC7i5DNKE.

 

In the following link, you will find the list of tested peripherals for the Intel® NUC Kit NUC7i5DNKE where you can see there is a touch screen listed as compatible. To clarify, the fact that your screen is not listed there does not mean it will not work with the Intel® NUC, is just that it was not tested by Intel®:

@AlbertR_Intel​ Thank you for the message. I was able to get the touch screen to work fine by using a HDMI/VGA adapter. A little more work than I expected, but it's working. These chipsets must not like DVI. Thank you.
