NUC7i7BNK freezes randomly - CPU temp ?

Hi,

I have on this NUC 3 HyperV VMs and let it run 24/7.

Sometimes, I find it not responding, neither to mouse nor keyboard. I have to hard reboot it.

Checking the CPU temperature after a freeze shows that cores have a temperature over than 93 °C.

What is the maximum of the i7 cores temperature ?

Do the NUC freezes because of the temp ?

Any help would be appreciated,

Regards,

Hello MESSA3,

Thank you for posting on the Intel ® communities.

To answer your questions, the processor has a maximum Tjunction temperature of 100C which means that the processor will not start closing programs to cool down until it reaches 100C, the freezing does not seem to be related to the temperature.

Do you have any kind of logs with the virtualization or perhaps logs within the main operating system? Perhaps there are errors reporting crash logs.

When did this problem started happening? Has there been any updates hardware or software-related?

Let me know please.

Hi David,

The logs don't seem to show anything,

I saw yesterday the CPU temp at 99° while it was iddleling. this machine hosts 2 VM that run all night automatised tests. So I think there is a chance that the cores temp exceed 100°.

This problem started since I set up this NUC, about 3 months ago.

This machine has always the lasts Windows updates.

Maybe the thermal paste of the CPU was not applied appropriately ?

Thank you for your time,

Regards,

Mehdi

Hello MESSA3,

Thank you for your response.

Please provide me with the hardware information, RAM model and part number, SSD model and part number. Also, please let me know which is the main O.S you are running and the software you are using to virtualize.

If possible, test running only one virtual machine to see if the temperatures are still high and to see if the freezing happens then.
