NUC8I7BEH Fan Control Not Working

Recently purchased a NUC8I7BEH with corsair vengeance 32GB ram and samsung evo M.2 1TB SSD.

Upon booting i noticed the fan was spinning quite loudly and checked the bios. It was spinning at around 3700 RPM. Tried changing cooling profiles and set it to Quiet but no change to fan speed. Tried setting it on 'Fixed' profile with different values but observed no change as well.

Updated Bios to the latest version and tried bios recovery but still observed no change to fan control.

Not sure what else I can do, or should I return this unit for a new one?

Unfortunately this didn't seem to affect the fan speed at all and I can see that the fan is still operating at the same speed no matter the what settings I change and load I put on the processor... hmm. Pondering if the fan controller or some sensor somewhere could be faulty.

At least based on my understanding reading the forums, the settings in bios should affect this to a certain extent. Even putting it on fixed mode and changing the minimum duty cycles has no effect on the fan speed no matter what was set. At this point I'm inclined to think that a component somewhere must be misbehaving...

You get the same speed (and noise) regardless of whether you manually set the duty cycle to 20% or 100%? That sounds like either (a) the microcontroller that implements the speed control is not working properly or (b) the blower is not receiving (or not responding to) the PWM signal.

If the problem is with the microcontroller, what I would suggest you try installing (or reinstalling, as the case may be) the latest BIOS release, but specifically using the jumper-based BIOS Recovery process. Once this completes, power off the unit and unplug A/C power for a minute or two (so microcontroller reloads firmware). As always, after doing a BIOS Recovery, I recommend that you go into BIOS Setup and reset the BIOS configuration to defaults.
