Hallo
I have a NUC8i5BEH running win10, from a few months now. Everything was working fine until last week I noticed that after a reboot I started to have a message "a bootable device has not been detected". but then restarted and everything was fine again
But since yesterday I cant start my NUC anymore, I just keep getting the message: "BIOS has detected unsuccessful post attempt issue". (this message takes about one minute to show up)
Moreover none of the F2, F10 works at boot time. I can only access the BIOS after I got the "unsuccessful post attempt issue" message press "Y" to enter setup and wait for a while.
Once in the BIOS the M.2 disk is not detected.
If I plug in a Windows USB stick it is detected, But not at boot time but only in the bios.
If from setup I select the USB as a boot device, it wont boot. (fresh new USB created with windows 10)
BIOS is the last version: 0087
What I can do?

Hi @frank_23
1. While in BIOS, click on F9 followed by "Y", to set BIOS to default settings. Check in Boot tab that the Fast Boot is disabled.
2. Insert the Windows installation USB into rear USB slot.
3. Click on F10, confirmed by "Y" to save settings and exit from BIOS.
4. While you see the Intel NUC logo, click on F10, if it works now, you will boot into Boot Menu.
5. In Boot Menu, chose the UEFI option of you USB and click Enter.

It turned out that the M.2 drive was not working and blocked the whole boot.

Hi Frank,
Quick question: were you able to recover any data from M.2 drive that wasn't working? In other words, was it just not booting or did it die completely?
I have the exact same NUC model and similar issue: had my NUC for about a year and was fine until today, when started getting the "a bootable device has not been detected". I am able to go into the BIOS normally and even updated it, but it's still not detecting the M.2 disk.
Just wondering if I can have any hope of at least recovering the data in it!
Regards,
Ed

Have you tried using a M.2 to USB adapter? There are a bunch of these adapters for both M.2 SATA SSDs and M.2 NVMe SSDs.
Hope this helps,

Hi Scott,
Thanks for the suggestion. I have not tried that yet but might be a good idea for later.
I'm still at the stage where I'm hoping to fix it via BIOS update or something like that. Also still debating whether to open the NUC myself or hand it over to a technician.
Anyways, probably best if I create a new threat about my particular issue and go from there.
Thanks help so far,
Ed

Hi Ed,
in my case the disk was broken, I sent it back for replacement and got a new one. With the new disk i did not get any error.

Hi Frank,
I believe that's my case too, the original SSD simply "died". Did you send yours back to Intel for replacement? Or was it another seller / vendor?
Regards,
Ed
