Hi there,
we have bought 3 Intel NUC8i5BEH. We use SCCM to install these machines, that works well and worked well with Intel NUC7i7BNH.
The problem is that we need to edit the the SMBIOS-Value "manufacturer" and "product", therefor I use these commands for insertion and generating a new BIOS-file:
itk6.efi -s -t system -f manufacturer -v Intel
itk6.efi -s -t system -f product -v NUC8i5BEH
itk6.efi -b -x 0073FullCustom.BIO -ib BE0073.BIO -is
I use this "Custom BIOS"-file to bring these changes to the other NUC8s.
Now my problem with it.
- the first NUC8, where I have created the Custom-BIOS on was installed successfully.
- the second and third NUC8 I used the Custom-BIOS on were installed successfully too, but they got encrypted with bitlocker just like our Notebooks.
- We separate the activation for bitlocker with: SELECT * FROM Win32_ComputerSystem WHERE PCSystemType = "2" so that was the first thing I checked. That was all correct.
- Now in checked the SMBIOS-Changes in efi-shell but all changes were inserted with the Custom-BIOS-file. Another installation encrypted the NUC8s again.
- Now in checked the changes in SMBIOS again AND inserted these manually again with the commands above.
- Now the NUC8 with the manually changed values got installed without bitlocker encrytion.
- I can not check this behavior again because the tird NUC8 is already in use in another town
Since we surely will buy another NUC8 is it possible that Intel check these circumstances? My thoughts about this are:
- the BIOS File 0073 is not completely compatible with this
- the NUC8 is not completly compatible with this
- the newest Intel Integrator Toolkit 6.1.9 is not compatible with it
- the newest Intel Integrator Toolkit 6.1.9 have some kind of bug
Like mentioned I used exact these same commands to successfully generate Custom-BIOS-files for NUC7. BUT that was done some time ago with BIOS0048 for NUC7, maybe there has something changed but was not communikated or inserted in "Intel Integrator Toolkit User Guide".
Did others experience this situation too?

Hello KR.1,
Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities.
I would like to inform you that I was able to replicate your issue on our labs, using an Intel® NUC Kit NUC8i5BEK. So far I was not able to find a workaround or a solution for this. Please allow us more time to perform more labs and try to find a solution for this.
Please let us know if you have any additional request.
Best regards,
Esteban Ch.

Hello KR.1,
First of all, my apologies for the delay in getting back to you.
It seems that this issue is strictly related to the deployment of the Operating System when using SCCM and it is not related to any customization done with ITK.
If you are still dealing with this issue, do you mind providing me with some more details?
- SCCM brand and build numbers
- OS image being deployed including build number
- Perhaps a screenshot describing the unwanted encryption
Let me know if it is possible to get these details.
Regards,
Ronny G
