NUC8i7BEH: Wake on voice capability for personal assistants

Hi there,

the BIOS changelog of the NUC8i7BEH reads as follows:

[...]

BIOS Version 0056 - BECFL357.86A.0056.2018.1128.1717

[...]

  •  Fixed the issue where an error would occur when installing VMware* ESXi versions 6.5 and 6.7.
  • Enhanced Wake on Voice capability for personal assistants (Cortana, Alexa).

[...]

Can someone explain to me, how the enhanced Wake on Voice capability works and how I can use it?

Thanks for your input,

Arthur

Enabling Modern Standby Mode is required to use Enhanced Wake on Voice capability. Windows 10 Modern Standby is supported in NUC8i7BEH. For more detail explanation, please read para. 1.13.3 in the Technical Product Specification https://www.intel.com/content/dam/support/us/en/documents/mini-pcs/nuc-kits/NUC8i3BE_NUC8i5BE_NUC8i7...

Thanks Leon,

that helps a lot! I'll examine, whether my NUC is already configured to support Modern Standby Mode. Do you happen to know how Alexa can benefit from that Modern Standby Mode? The Alexa UWP App does not even let me use a wake word to call for Alexa - the checkbox is greyed out...

Sorry, I'm not familiar with Alexa. I'm not sure that you need Modern Standby to use Alexa. May be here you may find answer how turn ON your PC with Alexa. https://www.lifewire.com/how-to-connect-alexa-to-your-computer-4172950
