I hit a snag tonight while updating to the latest Radeon driver here, and the driver would not complete the installation citing issues with the Windows image (Test running DISM ) or corrupt Visual C++ Redistribution Libraries (download fresh from here first, then remove all using Programs and Features Removal Control Panel utility, then install fresh).
I did that and had the same problem come up. The next recommendation was to download the AMD Removal tool from here, and run. It requires two reboots:
- The first into safe mode
- After the drives, files and registry entries have been removed a reboot into standard Windows (7, 8.1, 10, x86|x64).
Wiped all traces of the previous Radeon installation, very cool!
When I ran the Radeon driver installation file again (see link above), it worked, no hassles.
Passing on the experience.
According to AMD, the utility supports Windows 7, 8.1, 10 32/64.
