Hi,

Looking at the specs to get 5120 x 1440 resolution a monitor has to have two displayport ports, does this mean you would connect two displayport cables from the NUC8i7HVK to the monitor, please?

I am considering a 49" curved ultrawide monitor.

Hello Dartec56,

Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities.  

A system usually requires two DP connections and a dual port monitor to reach the resolution 5120 x 1440.

This is stated in the NUC8i7HVK Technical Product Specifications (Page 22, Table 4).

Therefore, the monitor that you plan to get would need to meet the dual port requirement in order to reach the desired resolution.

Hi Esteban,

Thank you and apology for delay.

The monitor has two displayport ports so I am presuming it is compatible.

I wanted to understand the way I interpretated the information in the NUC documentation.

So two cables from my two displayports on my computer to the two displayports on the monitor will give me the 5120 x 1440.

If there are two DisplayPort inputs intended specifically to support this scenario, then yes. But, many monitors have two DisplayPort ports, but only one is actually an input (the other is an output for Daisy-Chaining). Bottom line, make sure you understand what the monitor is truly capable of supporting.

 It’s good to know that the information provided was useful.

I agree with the post of n_scott_pearson, it is really important to check with the monitor manufacturer to make sure that the monitor will be fully capable of this configuration and that the ports are intended for that use.
