Hello!

Please provide the NVM v46 firmware change log for Thunderbolt JHL6340.

I asked a question on reddit, but I didn't get an answer.
https://www.reddit.com/r/intel/comments/p1pcn4/nvm_v46_firmware_changelog_for_thunderbolt_jhl6340/

I have an MSI GS65 8RE laptop with a JHL6340 module and a firmware version 30.
I have asked the MSI support team to release a Thunderbolt firmware update to protect against vulnerabilities and improve the performance of the module, but they do not want to release a firmware update.
The support service provided me with this answer: "Currently we have no schedule to udpate since we have no other feedback from other users and there is no clear symprom for this Intel security."
Now MSI has provided an additional response that says: "We have check internally and we will not udpate the firmware."

At least four companies (Intel, Dell, Lenovo, Panasonic) have released a firmware update to version 46 for the JHL6340 controller to protect against vulnerabilities and improve the operation of the module!

Hello samavar

Thank you for posting on the Intel️® communities. The motherboard manufacturer should provide the firmware updates, we're checking if there is any updates that might work on your system. The updates will be posted on the thread.

@samavar Thunderbolt™ is a technology that computer manufacturers customize for their platforms. Intel provides firmware and driver updates directly to OEMs (HP*, Lenovo*, Dell*, and so on) and doesn't support their products. It's their responsibility to test and validate updates before posting them for customers on their support websites and also to provide new versions for their systems.

Your best option is to continue working with the motherboard manufacturer for firmware updates. Please keep in mind that this thread will no longer be monitored by Intel. Thank you for your understanding.
