No HDMI output afer two days

Hi,

I setup my new Nuc was running two days perfectly. But now, I don't have any output on the HDMI. No Nuc logo at boot time, no OS booting.

Only a black screen. The TV says, there is nothing at the port.

I tried with different HDI ports, same results. Nothing.

The nuc itself, works fine. I'm able to login from remote.

Any idea?

Some info could help. In particular, what are your NUC and TV models?

@EScha6

In addition to sending the information requested by Peter, please try to connect your NUC to PC Monitor, rather than TV.

OK.

Then Nuc is a new NUC8i5BEK with the BIOS 071.

The TV is a Samsung 40" Flat UHD TV

Model UE 40KU6079U

For setting up the Nuc it worked fine in UHD mode. But all of the sudden: no output any more.

I switched now to a (also Samsung) PC Monitor. With a DVI Interface. I'm using a HDMI to DVI cable.

Here everthing works fine. So I guess nothing wrong with the hardware.

If I can't connect to the TV, one of my usecases for the NUC is gone.....

  1. Your NUC is OK if you can see video on PC monitor.
  2. Try to use other and good quality HDMI video cable.
  3. Consult TV User Manual and/or Samsung service how to choose correct HDMI video input.

I was just wondering.

Because my Raspberry Pi works fine with the same TV and the same cable. The Nuc should replace the Pi, I think the Nuc is a diva :-)

A few more questions to pinpoint the problem:

  1. Does Raspberry Pi produce 4K@60Hz on the TV?
  2. Does Nuc produce 4K@60Hz on the monitor?
  3. Does the HDMI port on TV to which you connect NUC support "HDMI UHD Color" feature and is it enabled for this HDMI port?
  4. You say that initially NUC worked with the TV. Did you change the HDMI port on the TV or its settings?

I'd agree with Leon in suspecting the HDMI cable, which might not be able to handle 4K@60Hz signal.

Hi Peter,

Thanks!

i guess that's the solution.

The Samsung HDMI port wasn't switched to "HDMI UHD Color"!!!

Thanks a lot
