Hello JayyRo
In regards to your previous questions:
1 - Extreme- Is 20mm free space top and bottom and open front and back of the chassis sufficient airspace?
If the space lets the air flow there shouldn't be any issues. I would say that 20mm free space top and bottom seems to be fine and using the stand-offs/pads may be also helpful if you're able to use them.
2 - Chassis sizes, there will be no 100 or 120 mm high 12th gen NUC kits for PCs where space for a GPU isn't required?
For 12th Gen Intel® NUCs, at this moment we only have available this Family "Dragon Canyon". For these NUCs, this is the only form factor available (tall chassis supporting internal PCIe card). Additional NUCs may be released in the future with different features and form factors like the compact form factor 4"x4" NUCs (with shorter/smaller heights) we have in previous NUC generations. However, the specs are not available yet and we cannot guarantee if any future steps would be taken regarding future plans or products; therefore, we usually don't comment on unreleased products or future plans.
We recommend staying tuned for the latest news about Intel® Products by checking our official communication channels/resources, for instance, the Intel® Newsroom website.
We hope this help. If you have any other inquiries, please don't hesitate to contact us back.
Best regards,

Hello @JayyRo
Thank you for posting on the Intel® communities.
Just to make we are on the same page, could you please confirm the following details?
1- For Nuc 12 i9 Extreme or Nuc 11 Extreme i7, we have the following models that match that description:
Are you referring only to those specific NUC models? They all have very similar chassis' form factors and dimensions.
2- Is there any particular reason why you might be interested in placing the Intel® NUC sideways/horizontal?
For instance, is it due to not enough room in the chosen place, or are you planning to install/integrate the NUC in a specific place/deployment like on a machine or vehicle? If so, please provide more details.
For any other inquiries, please let us know.
Best regards,
Andrew G.

Hi Andrew,
Thanks.
1 - Intel® Core™ i9-12900 Processor (30M Cache, up to 5.10 GHz) (preferably) or next best - prpbably the i7, or if there's an 12th Gen Pro i9. In the dimensions, I meant to write 120mm high, not 100.
2. The reason for up to 120mm high is we wish to place the NUC in an open shelf in a media cabinet that is approx 140-150 mm high (and giving some airspace for cooling), replacing an older computer that is 100 mm high

Hello JayyRo
After reviewing this further, in regards to your first question: "1. Is it acceptable to place a Nuc 12 i9 Extreme (or Nuc 11 Extreme i7) sideways so it's 120mm tall?"
We would like to inform you that the Intel® NUC is going to work without issues if it is placed sideways/in a horizontal way. However, there is something that you will need to keep in mind: the lateral panels of the chassis act as air vents, and if they are covered/blocked then the airflow can be compromised and cause overheating depending on the "open shelf" where the Intel® NUC is being placed.
Therefore, we recommend making sure the place has the proper conditions and if possible trying not to block air vents to allow proper airflow.
About the second question: "2. Will there be a Nuc 12th Gen Pro - i9 in a 100mm tall chassis?"
This is the chassis designed by Intel® for this PCIe form factor due to the element design and applies for other models as well, as per the size of the element a shorter chassis is not available.
We hope this helps. If you have any other inquiries, please don't hesitate to contact us back.

Thanks Andrew.
Re: 1 - Extreme- Is 20mm free space top and bottom and open front and back of the chassis sufficient airspace? The shelf is glass but we can use stand-offs/pads on the corners of the chassis too raise the chassis off the shelf to allow some underside airflow.
Re: 2 - Chassis sizes. So to clarify, there will be no 100 or 120 mm high 12th gen NUC kits for PCs where space for a GPU isn't required?
Thanks again.
