Nuc 7i7BNH - screen goes blank (black) periodically in Windows 10 64 bit.

Jump to solution

Issue:

Since upgrading to the newest bios BNKBL357.86A.0048.EB.EXE my display periodically goes blank (black) for a few seconds and then returns to normal. This happens several times an hour.

All drivers are up to date according to the Intel Update utility. Video driver version is 15.45.19.4678.

I am using Windows 10 64 bit, version 1703, OS build15063.483

It looks a lot like this:

Equipment:

Intel Nuc7i7bnh

32gb ram

Samsung 960 evo ssd

Dell 2415Q 4k monitor (Single display)

USB C (Thunderbolt) to displayport cable - StarTech.com USB C to Display port cable

Hello azguy,

Thank you for contacting the Intel community.

I'm sorry for the issue that you are experiencing with the Intel® NUC.

DougArcher is right, this issue seems to be the same he reported on the other thread and we are working on a solution, unfortunately I don't have an estimated time when this is going to be fixed but hopefully a new graphics driver will be release soon to solve this problem.

As DougArcher said if you are running a 4k resolution at 60Hz the temporally solution is to lower down the refresh rate to 30Hz.

For an update related to this problem please keep checking here:

Best wishes,

I think you're having the same problem as me:

I noticed in the video you're running the display at 60Hz. As a temporary solution, when I set the refresh rate to 30Hz the flickering is dramatically reduced. If you read my thread, you'll see it's most likely a driver problem, the intel rep has been able to reproduce it, and it's being "worked on". Hopefully we see a fix soon.

The new graphics driver does NOT resolve the flickering issue. (GFX_WIN10_64_15.46.2.1.4729)

Watching this video nearly always creates the issue for me:

http://www.azcardinals.com/videos/videos/CardsCamp-Highlights---Full-Pads-/2a728f0b-b120-4d4b-9726-3... # CardsCamp Highlights - Full Pads

This video plays correctly on a 2012 MacBook Pro running Mac OS 10.12.6

Interestingly, this video also plays correctly on my Nuc7i7 if I totally uninstall the Intel video driver and instead use the Microsoft driver.

Hello,

I work for Intel Customer Support and I want to let you know that we are aware of screen flashing and/or flickering issue when using 4K resolutions on NUC7ixBN systems.

This issue has been reported and engineering is working on finding a solution for it.
