Nuc7CJYHN mit win10: Wlan-Netzwerk ohne internet

Hi liebes Forum,

You are correct; if you want to use Wake on LAN, you must have an Internet connection. This feature is implemented using a specially designed frame called a magic packet, which is sent to all computers in a network, among them the computer to be awakened. The magic packet contains the MAC address of the destination computer and an IP address, so the packet can be delivered and processed by the targeted PC. To complete this process, you must have an Internet connection for communication between the devices.

Regarding your question about the mini router solving this, you only need a device that provides you with an internet connection.

Hi Jean,

thanks for the quick response. My problem was, that I need a wlan connection between the Nuc and the Android tablet without internet connection. I now solved the problem with an additional router wich is connected to the Nuc via lan cable. Now I can connect the tablet and Nuc over this network with remote desktop.

It´s a kind of solution but not the one I´d prefered. I really don´t understand why an intel nuc with windows mandatory

needs internet for a simple remote desktop connection,  for a raspberry pi (with the same hardware) opens up a wlan by itself on scratch (without internet  connection).

best regards Guido

Hello GuFuh,

I appreciate the clarification.

You should keep in mind that you need an internet connection for the remote desktops just in case the devices are on different networks. However, it is always necessary to have a network. For further information regarding the Remote Desktop option, you should contact Microsoft support, as it is a feature of their operating system. Here is a community thread where they mentioned that it is not necessary to have an internet connection for a remote desktop:
