Hello all.......System DG35EC board, Intel E8500, 8gb DDR2 800. Recently received a Samsung 840 Evo 128gb SSD, installed as OS only, and is up and running well except for one issue. I'm getting a blank screen hang w/ a single flashing cursor for about 30 seconds. This is after Intel splash screen, and before Win7 splash screen. I have AHCI enabled in bios, ver. .118. Any other settings in bios I've missed that may be the cause? Thanks for all input.....

In the BIOS check something called HHD delay & make sure it's set to zero seconds.
PS Did you install the Intel RST?? If not, then don't for now

Hbomb, this behavior could be related to compatibility between the motherboard and the SSD.
This board is a few years old (2008) and it only has SATA 2 (3.0 Gb/s). The hard drive you are using requires SATA 3 (6.0 Gb/s).

Have you checked whether you have the latest firmware on the SSD?
When SSDs work in compatibility mode "i.e. reverting from SATA 3 to SATA 2" it does have certain compatibility issues but none warrant a 30secs delay "such an issue is not among the documented ones".
IS BIOS ver. .118 the latest??
