I've read about the in-the-box clear plastic inserts to replace the stock black-on-clear "skull" with "custom logos". (The skull came off my NUC6i7KYK within the first five minutes.)
What I haven't read anywhere is how, exactly, one would customize one of these inserts? Is the backlight mono-color white? RGB? Addressable? Does one need something like a Cricut and black vinyl film to apply a die-cut pattern to one of these inserts? Or a photo printer inkjet to print it on in color? It seems like a cute idea, maybe, that they've gone to a lot of trouble and some expense to implement, but what, exactly, is the use scenario?

Hello DWatson
Thank you for your patience in this matter. After checking this further, we would like to share the following information:
- The top heard (top lid) is RGB
- The lid center area is transparent and the Skull silkscreen sits between the RGB LED plate and the top transparent cover.
- You can 3D print the silkscreen with the desirable logo and have the skull replaced.
For any other inquiries, please do not hesitate to contact us back.
Best regards,

Thanks for that information. It seems like this might merit a support or product information article.
3D printing is something very few in the target audience for this product are equipped to do... it seems like a lot of BoM and development spend for a feature of very limited need and zero functional benefit.
I'm not too sure where intel is going with the NUC kit products; limited availability at best and, I notice this morning, they are now almost impossible to learn much about from the intel product pages on the updated web site.
