I have received my new Intel NUC 7CJYSAL mini PC today. And it seems to have some kind of issue with the power button LED. I connect the NUC to power suppply adapter. The power button LED should light up into solid Amber to indicate the OFF state. But the LED shows no light at all. Then I press the power button and the NUC normally boots into Windows. The LED goes into solid blue. From Windows, I give the command "Turn OFF". Windows shuts down, the NUC shuts down as well, and the LED goes blank again. No light at all. It should go into solid Amber instead. I have verified all settings in "Secondary Power Settings" section in BIOS, probably 10-times. I have tried all possible combinations of S0-S3 setting. The LED seems to be behaving correctly for S0 (power ON), but I have found no way to make it working for S5 (power OFF). Does anybody have a clue how to fix this issue, please?

Additional information: The NUC was manufactured in March 2021. It came with BIOS version 55 (June 2020) and Windows 10 Home. I made a BIOS update to latest version 65 (July 2021) and Windows upgrade to version 11. I made all possible updates of Windows drivers. No change. All possible combinations of BIOS and Windows versions yield the same result. The LED does not come up when the NUC goes into OFF state. Otherwise, the NUC works fine, no complaints. Just the LED...

What make you think that "The power button LED should light up into solid Amber to indicate the OFF state."? I have few NUC computers and all acts the same (i.e. Power Button LED stays OFF in NUC OFF state).
BTW, there is a Standby Power LED on the board (see page 32-33 in the Technical Product Specification),
indicates that the power is still connected to the board. Light from this LED you may see trough the NUC vent holes.

Hi Leon, thank you for your reply. Well, I am making my guess with regard to my experience with other NUC computers I have got already at home. These are 3 pieces of NUC6CAYH and 4 pieces of NUC7i5BNx. And they all behave the way I described: ON state -> solid Blue, Sleep -> Breathing Amber, OFF state -> Solid Amber. I know that all of this can be configured in BIOS Power Settings. It means there is a way of how to make the LED active in the OFF state for my all older NUCs. Unlike for the new one. That is the reason I am wondering if this new one is defective or if there is just some tiny little detail I am overlooking. And yes, you are right. There is indeed an LED inside. I guess it is the one that is referred to as the "RGB LED" in the BIOS Power Settings. And yes, it works. But I would still love to see my Power Button LED working. In the same way as I see it in my older NUCs. I understand it has no impact on functionality of the PC. Yet, I would love to keep consistent behaviour at all of my NUC PCs. Any suggestions, please?

Hi Leon, please, find attached a photo of my NUC6CAYH in the OFF state. This is just one of my older NUC PCs I mentioned earlier. This particular one I have in my workshop, hence the dust on the cover. Please note the nice LED color consistency with the Dell U2412M monitor in the background.

It seems the unit is defective because you have tried using all configurations and still there is no answer from the LED.
Please contact technical support for warranty claims, you can reach them at the following link.

Thank you for the image of your NUC6CAYH which I don't have. I don't have NUC7i5BNx neither. However, I can see on the attached image that the Power Button LED is ON (this is unexpected behavior for me). I checked in NUC8i7HVK and NUC7i7DNHE (Visual BIOS) and NUC10i7FNH (Aptio V BIOS). In all those computer, this LED is OFF while NUC is OFF (S5 state).
I'll be glad if you will be so kind to send in this thread post, describing the solution to your question once you get a new unit.
