Problem with i225-v on Intel NUC11PAHi7

I have a big problem with the Intel i225-v network card on an Intel NUC11PAHi7.

After installing the latest driver via the Intel Support Assistant, the system resets after a few minutes. Even after a reboot, a reset is executed within a few minutes.

This affects both Windows 10 20H2 and 21H1.

As long as the driver for the i225-v is not installed, the system runs stably. Even a manual driver installation (https://www.intel.de/content/www/de/de/download/18293/intel-network-adapter-driver-for-windows-10.ht...) does not improve the situation on a newly installed system.

Intel ProSet shows an error in the Interupt and NVM area during the diagnostics directly after the installation.

A Samsung NVMe 970 evo is installed in the system. When this is replaced with a SATA SSD, the system runs stably, even with the i225-v driver.

Furthermore, the system runs stable with the NVMe under Pop-OS (Linux).

It seems to be a driver problem in connection with a NVMe.

What are the options to fix this?

Urs_Krueger, Thank you very much for providing that information and the SSU report.

According to the SSU information, currently, the BIOS version on the Intel® NUC is 0040, there is a newer BIOS version available on our website which is 0041, please try a BIOS update using the F7 method or the BIOS recovery method following the instructions in the links below:

https://downloadmirror.intel.com/648061/PA_0041_ReleaseNotes.pdf

The report is also showing that the LAN driver version installed is 1.0.2.13, and the proper driver for your Intel® NUC is 1.0.2.6, please install that driver:

Have you tried to test the Intel® NUC with a different Ethernet cable?

Did you install all the Windows* updates?

Urs_Krueger, Thank you for posting in the Intel® Communities Support.

In order for us to provide the most accurate assistance, we just wanted to confirm a few details about your system:

Is this a new Intel® NUC?

When did you purchase it?

Was it working fine before with the previous Intel® driver version?

Did you make any recent hardware/software changes besides changing the NVMe and to update the driver?

Does the problem happen at home or in the work environment?

Please attach the SSU report so we can verify further details about the components in your platform, check all the options in the report including the one that says "3rd party software logs":

Any questions, please let me know.

The system was purchased about 30 days ago. SSD and RAM were installed before commissioning.

To solve problems with the SSD, it has already been replaced with one from another manufacturer.

The system only runs stable under Linux or a Sata SSA instead of an NVMe.

The system is intended as an office computer at one of my customers -> work environment.

The system has been reinstalled several times and currently only Windows 10 and the drivers are installed.
As long as the Ethernet driver was not installed, the system was stable.
As soon as the Ethernet driver was installed it is unstable. Thus, the error is reproducible and can be limited to the driver for the network.

Hello Albert,

the Bios update has fixed the problem.

For security reasons, I also did the suggested driver downgrade.

Attached is a SSU after the updates.

For information: I had tested several network cables (even without). Windows updates were all installed (via WLAN).

Thanks for the help

Greetings
Urs
