I have a D945GTP motherboard with RAID 5, that went down after a power outage. I want to replace with a new D945GTP motherboard without losing the existing data and maintaining the RAID. Is this firsty posible and what would the steps be?

Hi there,
Well, I tried these steps below several times and it worked fine for me.
But I will advise you to make sure to have a complete separate verified backup before doing the tests.
Try to connect the drives onto another identical motherboard with exactly or possibly the same board revision and same firmware revision and connect the drives to same sata ports as in the original machine.
For example:
Original Machine
HDD1 connected to SATA 0
HDD2 connected to SATA 1
New Machine
HDD1 connected to SATA 0
HDD2 connected to SATA 1
If you had a RAID setup, make sure to configure SATA as RAID in the BIOS.
Dont re-create a RAID.
All the best,
Regards,
Aryan

Hi Aryan;
Thanks for taking the time to respond. I changed the motherboard after checking the backup, the chipset, RAID controller chips, Version and it worked perfectly. I setup the bios configuration before attaching the SATA drives, and then attached them and everthing was fine, so everything you told me was correct.
Thanks Very Much
Maurice
