Silver Ghost Display

NUC7i7BNH system with 32Gb Optane Memory, 16Gb RAM, 1,5Tb HDD running WIndows 10 Pro v1709 (Build 16299.125).

For some time now, during viewing a video using VLC, the picture will go all 'silverish' or ghostly, for a second or three. The video doesn't pause, just changes colour.

There doesnt seem to be any particular relation to anything that may cause it.

It may happen when I'm changing from speakers to headphones, or when the external HDD kicks in (for whatever reason), or at other times.

It doesn't matter whether I'm using a video stored on the external HDD or on the internal HDD/Optane Memory.

I don't know if it's just with VLC, I haven't tried any other media player.

While it's not urgent, it is annoying, coz it can happen a dozen times during the playing of a movie, once or twice or even not at all.

If anyone has any fix ideas, would be muchly appreciated.

Dave

DaveSanderson: Thank you very much for contacting the Intel® Graphics communities and for providing the files. We will do our best to assist you with this matter.

In order to try to fix this problem, please install driver 4849:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26947/Intel-HD-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10-for-Intel-NU... https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26947/Intel-HD-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-10-for-Intel-NU...

If the problem persists, then we can try driver 4877:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/27355/Graphics-Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-15-60-?pr... https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/27355/Graphics-Intel-Graphics-Driver-for-Windows-15-60-?pr...

Also, if you have the option, try to test a different video player just to confirm it it shows the same behavior.

Another thing we can try is to do a BIOS update to the latest version 0057 using the F7 method:

Any further questions, please let me know.

Regards,

Alberto R

Hi Alberto,

Sorry for late reply.

No, the problem is not fixed.

After installing/removing/reinstalling drivers, I tried different video players, i.e. VLN and the one that comes with Windows 10, and s.till the problem occurs.

Any other advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Dave

Thanks for your email Stephen C.,

Unfortunately, the problem is still present.

After reinstalling OS and updating all drivers (Intel Iris Plus Graphics 650 v23.20.16.4901);

After downloading, installing and using 'VLC', the problem occurred at least two to five times while watching a tv program;

the problem also occurred while using 'WIndows' Media Player' and 'Windows' Film & TV Player', both had at least one occurrence of ghosting.

So, I am still non the wiser as to what might be causing this problem.

Is it Hardware - e.g. Optane Memory, the video card/memory???

Is it Software - e.g. Intel's Iris 600 video driver, Windows 10 Pro O/S, any media player I've tried???

Over to you, Stephen, and/or anyone else.

Thanks, again...

Dave
