Skull NUC BIOS 57 Problems

After installing BIOS 57 for NUC6i7KYK, the random reboot issues came back right away. Computer will randomly reboot and come to a POST Failure message. Reverting back to BIOS 55 makes the problem go away.

Please fix. Thank you!

Hello dynamicmange,

Thank you for posting.

Can you please try the BIOS version one more time? This time use the F7 method for the update: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000005850/mini-pcs.html F7 BIOS Update Instructions for Intel® NUC

Let me know your results.

When I updated a few days ago, I used the F7 method. Should I still try again? Was something changed in the BIOS thats on the website?

It is the same version. We have seen cases where the update is not successfully and that causes issues with the BIOS installed. Since you alredy tried the F7 method, please try the Recovery method: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000005532/mini-pcs.html https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000005532/mini-pcs.html

Download a fresh copy of the BIOS: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/89187/Intel-NUC-Kit-NUC6i7KYK Downloads for Intel® NUC Kit NUC6i7KYK

I saw that BIOS 0058 was released. I just downloaded that, put it on a freshly formatted USB drive, and did the recovery method to update it. The system rebooted, I reset BIOS settings to default. Rebooted again and immediately got the POST Failure reboot. Reverted back to BIOS 0055, no problem.

It really seems like something is wrong with 57 and 58, at least with my setup.

/thread/129618 dynamicmange,

I tested these two BIOS versions in our Intel® NUC Kit NUC6i7KYK, but no issues were found when updating them.

The next thing you can try is to clear the CMOS battery. In order to reach the CMOS battery connector, you have to disconnect the power adapter and then carefully remove the board from the NUC case. Before removing the board, remove the SSDs and SODIMMs. Check N.Scott.Pearson's instructions in the following thread:
